This is a 1880-1900 Lorch Schmidt lathe that is 5" swing over the bed and unusually has a threading attachment with an early form of Universal Joint. The wheels are very large 12 DP and 14.5 degrees. They are not available and would be difficult to make being so large.
The lathe at first appeared to be in good condition for its age but after careful checking I found it needed the bed and compound slide scraping, which I did with a hand scraper. I did not film the very laborious process of hand scraping the bed which took a couple of weeks.
The outcome was good and it is now a usable lathe once again.
The motor and bracket came from a 1940's Myford ML4
