Baroness Kate Hoey has been at the forefront of opposition to the Windsor Framework, which replaces the Northern Ireland Protocol as the EU-UK arrangement for NI after Brexit.
In a bizarre rant, Baroness Hoey compares the deal to the occupation of France in World War II, and says MLAs that seek to return to Stormont are "collaborators" with a colonial regime.
Speech took place on 29 March.

I have noticed that there are quite a few people in the UK who don't seem to realise that it is an English parliament, not a UK one given the sneery approach that Tory ministers take with the other three countries, and in many cases the regions north and south west. One could even call it a London parliament only.

@@patrickjr11 Northern Ireland isn't like Scotland or Wales or England. Look it up It's a manufactured Sectarian statelet, manufactured by Britain to ensure a perpetual protestant majority loyal to the UK. Even all the major British media outlets reported its history in that manner when Sinn Féin won the most seats in the last Stormont election. The statelet was designed for there never to be a nationalist majority, that's why the border meanders, to keep protestants in, catholics out, only that is failing now re demographics. Some people in Northern Ireland consider themselves Irish, some British, a much smaller percentage Northern Irish. Re the Good Friday Agreement, some sectors are run on an all island/Ireland basis, eg Agriculture agrifoods tourism biodiversity environment etc, some aspects of health also, eg cross border A&E, all island congenital heart disease network. Northern Ireland has a frictionless land border with Ireland and the EU. Northern Ireland retains frictionless access to the EU Single Market re goods post Brexit unlike Britain. The island of Ireland is already reuniting economically. Northern Ireland's constitutional status can change ie it can vote by self determination with the South to form a United Ireland re the Good Friday Agreement. Unlike any part of Britain. Northern Ireland isn't a country or a nation.

@@julianshepherd2038 “Scotti came over from Ireland” The Scotti did… so what? Surely you can be saying the British have a right to northern Ireland today (or indeed durring the Seeding of Ulster) because the Scotti migrated from Ireland to Scotland in the dark ages? I guess the English could take over northern Germany, the Hungarians could take over Siberia and the Americans could take over the UK.

@@julianshepherd2038 Typical lowland anglo/hun lie, Vikings killed off the Picts politically, the Scots king inherited their kingdom after his dad/king died in battle with the Pictish king against the Vikings who also died. The sons mother was a Pictish princess as was his wife. Picts were assimulated they were already very interwined with the Scots by the viking era by political marriages, alliances against anglos, trade, language (they wrote in ogham spoke scots gaelic) and no evidence of their own written language, religion(Geals brought christianity to Scotland) and celtic culture similarities, their origin legend is them asking a Irish tribe a place to settle then telling them we're full but there's a land across the sea but they lacked women so the tribe gave them some too lol. The Battle of 839, also known as the Disaster of 839 or the Picts’ Last Stand, was a battle fought in 839 between the Vikings and the Picts and Gaels. It was a decisive victory for the Vikings in which Uuen, the King of the Picts, his brother Bran and Aed son of Boanta, King of Dál Riata, were all killed. Their deaths led to the rise of Kenneth I and the formation of the Kingdom of Scotland, as well as the disappearance of Pictish identity. It has therefore been described as "one of the most decisive and important battles in British history."[1]

But Kate Honey said brexit wouldn't be a problem in NI and funnily enough didn't speak out against the oven ready deal. Kate reminding everyone that the UK has the same weight against the EU as Norway. Bombing is terrorism but just shooting people is some moral stance and this has what to do with 25 years of peace or the mitigation to keep that peace brought about by brexit. The UK does have they not got French customs officers at Dover ? Does Kate also want to get rid of existing checks to ensure foot and mouth continues not to blight NI farmers. Can they not buy seeds for their garden from the EU ? Or do loyalists only grow seeds from GB. They don't mind using Irish passports though.
