Any theory that supports Stannis the One True King is a good theory.

Cersei is extremely good at creating a court full of very competent advisors. The only issue is that almost all of them are in it to actively hurt her position. Really though Aurane is out here alone in Kings Landing singlehandedly saving the Stannis cause what a legend.

The idea that Aurane constructed huge warships, took almost 5000 guys who could be trained as actual soldiers, and basically bankrupted the crown all to support Stannis the Mannis is incredible.

Yo before I watched this video I thought that Cersei IV in Feast is the best chapter. The simplicity of the scene, the small council just talking politics and governance, is so interesting. But also all the the shit being talked and the reading between the lines makes this the best chapter

In the second part you mention that Varys was gone before Aurane became important. Aurane was likely just hanging around King's Landing in ASOS, so they could have met then, and Varys was probably still in King's Landing after his disappearance. More importantly Varys worked in the black cells as Rugen, whose boss was Rennifer Longwaters, of House Longwaters, a cadet branch of House Velaryon. So if Longwaters worked with Varys, who works for Aegon, then Aurane working with them makes sense. And in regards to him proposing building the new fleet, taking Cersei's fleet and her money most immediately bennefits Aegon since he was landing forces and will first face Cersei. Helping Stannis is probably just a side-effect, when the goal is to help Aegon more quickly take over the South by weakening Cersei.

As a fan who found you through your HOTD videos around the time you released episode 7-8, going back and watching the famous mystical Aurane Waters videos I have heard so much about in Glimbus and Swifty live streams has been really cool. This series has aged very well and I won't mind more smaller theory videos here and there if you want to do them for fun. I enjoy your videos on the Dragon and Dragoner show (especially the latter whoo S2 lets go!) But these are awesome too!

I love this theory. I haven't thought about him staying loyal to Stannis. Good analysis! My personal theory actually involves Aegon VI and him rapidly becoming a very dangerous threat. Firstly, I see that he needs a larger fleet. The Golden company's fleet won't be enough in the wars to come. The current lord of House Valaryon is a soon-to-be 7 year old child so if Aegon cleverly legitimises the bastard of driftmark, Aurane Waters, making him Aurane Valaryen, Lord of Driftmark and his master of ships it gives him a competent Ally who has control of triple decked warships, bested only by Lord Manderly's fleet who are bested by the stronger Redwyne Fleet who are themselves bested only by House Greyjoy's fleet. Legitimising Aurane saves house Valaryen from the brink of extinction as little Lord Monterys Valaryon will likely die ("Boy lords are the bane of any house" - Lord Roose Bolton) (All this is Assuming Aurane lives this war- George is savage and may kill off the house entirely for Aurane's folly). Your theory however was very strong! Particularly when you mentioned patchface and the mermaids and sea horses uniting. VERY good spotting that! My theory, if you are interested: I believe Aegon IV is going to become a huge problem, quickly. He will gain a legendary Kingsguard. It seems that he is possibly a Blackfyre so he will get an "Anti-Aerys/Rhaegar" team. Symbolically this will happen with his whole team, including his Kingsguard. So Ser Gerold Dayne seems like an obvious start. I believe he will steal Dawn from Starfall then be accepted into Aegon's kingsguard. (He may capture Balon Swann as a hostage for Aegon). Think about this: The petty lords and common folk are angry at the Lannisters/Tyrells for starving them. Rhaegar and Ser Arthur Dayne, the beloved sword of the morning was only 17 years ago. People remember and here we have a handsome Valyrian prince claiming to be Aegon VI Targaryen standing next to A *Dayne who is wielding Dawn* ... People will think of them as saviours. Rhaegar and Ser Arthur come again. This is interesting for a number of reasons. In book four Darkstar tells us that he hated Ser Arthur and that whilst he was of the light "I am of the dark" so the people may be in for a surprise. Jon Snow may be The Sword Of The Morning. How he will get Dawn from Ser Gerold is another story involving another theory but anyway... Next we have Ser Rolly Duckfield. Easy to laugh him off due to his name as well as the fact that Jon Con thinks he is a competent swordsman but not worthy of the kingsguard. But he has known Aegon for most of his life and he would die for him. After knowing that can you really imagine Ser Rolly betraying him? Loyalty is one of the most important things for a kingsguard knight so I have hope for the Knight of the field of ducks. Next, if there will be more parallels to Aerys' kingsguard there has to be a Hightower. Who better than Ser Garth "Greysteel" Hightower who is currently training a small army in Oldtown to deal with the ironborn. He is also a second son and second sons are becoming more important as the story goes on; the sellsword company of the same name, Tyrion Lannister, Garlan Tyrell. House Hightower are historically not on great terms with the Targs and are sworn to House Tyrell who is sworn to House Lannister, currently. I'm VERY careful in differentiating the books from the show but it seems obvious that Cersei will blow *something* up or do something erratic, killing many Tyrells and more importantly ALERIE TYRELL, born ALERIE HIGHTOWER, daughter of Lord Leyton who is currently in KL so therefore the Hightowers switching allegiance and fighting for Aegon makes sense. Ser Garlan may also join Aegon for this reason and no one can forget seeing him train against 3 - 4 people at a time in a scene that makes me grin at it's epic-ness with each re-read. Remember, Aegon is Dragon-less and we know how much Oldtown despises dragons so to them it's Aegon VI > Daenerys Targaryen. The Maesters being directly involved in the Dance Of The Dragons and all. So Ser Gerold Dayne, Ser Rolly Duckfield and Ser Garth Hightower are the only 3 I can think of right now. Possibly Ser Garlan but I see him as much too noble and true to team with the likes of Darkstar. Plus I think Ser Garlan wants land (Brightwater Keep). There are many other VERY strong knights in the story. Tragedy is a common feature in the series and imagine Ser Barristan hears that Rhaegar's son is still alive and Ser Barristan- the man who killed the last Blackfye of the male line -betrays Dany (A real Targ) to sneak into a castle in a quest similar to Duskendale and Aerys, saving a Blackfyre in the form of Aegon. Sounds very George RR Martin to me. There are other knights who could make the cut but I struggle to make great cases for them (Ser Lyle Crakehall seeming reckless and Ser Lyn Corbray who has a Valyrian sword and is obviously talented but is a pedophile which is an uncomfortable signing at best) but if this is an "Anti-Aerys" kingsguard maybe they will have a place there. Aurane would fit in well. A bastard backing a Blackfyre. So the Golden Company, lords angry at the Lannisters, a large fleet, a powerful kingsguard and possibly the power of Dorne behind them in the form of a possible alliance with Arianne. Then the takeover of the Crownlands, Stormlands, the Reach, and the Riverlands (Maybe). Sorry for the length but I know you won't mind, you love this story as much as I do so the passion and interest is there as I'm sure you'll understand. I would LOVE to hear what you think of Aegon becoming a force to be reckoned with in an epic video about him. Or maybe you disagree in which case I would still love to hear your opinion on this Valyrian prince and his possible Bastard Admiral. Again this story is tragic so in *My* theory, after Stannis helps to take Winterfell, he will BEHEAD Lord Wyman Manderly for killing his onion Knight, ignoring Manderly's claims that he didn't. He will then install Wylis Manderly as lord of White Harbour. The Iron bank will send a message that they will send their famous purple-sailed fleet to meet with him in White Harbour to join the Braavosi fleet to his Manderly fleet. Stannis gets impatient and is about to leave when Davos Seaworth arrives, alive and well. At which moment, Stannis will grind his teeth as the book readers facepalm simultaneously... RIP Wyman Manderly... Anyway so Davos tells Stannis how Rickon is too wild to be taken and is a pseudo king on Skagos- the Wild Wolf reborn.. or that he's merely dead. Stannis doesn't want to wait any longer so he leaves. He arrives on Dragonstone and engages in war preparations. Now from here I have no idea what happens. What I do know, what I am sure of is that we will get a POV with Davos where there is some kind of naval battle and things will look as dire as the Blackwater, it will look like Stannis will lose again when Davos will glance at the horizon and see... Purple sails coming to help Stannis the Mannis. I'm not 100% sold on all of these theories, some more than others, I just love the discussion.

In my AGOTCK3 play through as stannis Fucking driftmark had rebelled against me and also joined young gryphs rebellion, monford is their lord but aurane slew my best knight Horpe. I wish it was lore accurate for this play through the damn velaryons are a pain in my ass, fucking 50 thousand dornishmen and others invaded dragonstone during young gryphs rebellion, killed all my men, then left.

Interesting take. One thing that makes me wonder is: Aurane is a bastard. That trope has been used as the "noble bastard" in jon Snow, who also wears the Stark honor on his sleeve. Then we get the "bastard bastard" Ramsey Bolton, who bookwise, does not even follow along with the Bolton brand of calculated cruelty and cunning (he does get the cruelty in spades, though). Where does Aurane fall? Is he loyal like a Velaryon or is this loyalty turned on its head with him? Your theory would suggest another noble bastard. Also I would not dismiss what Pycelle said: A sailor needs to be experienced (okay, and oarsman probably can learn on the job, but then again a galley slave likely is not going to be very loyal to his owner. Castle Black does not only look a bit nicer then getting the head or other bodyparts chopped off, but some would likely prefer it to being chained up in the belly of a galley. Maybe this bastard will not be noble or bastardly as bastards go, but trying to make some money (just trying to get as high as possible, I think he knew Cersei had a lady boner for him). My theory is that there is or will be a new lord of the waters. Because Aurane just doesn't know how to command a fleet and his men are not experienced either. I think a fleet like the Redwines or even more the experienced raiders of the Ironborn will tear his fleet of giant dromones (likely not being overly manouverable due to both size and incometance on board) to shreds. Either Aurane will supply Euron with some nice and big ships (like how Victarion repurpused all ships he came across) or some bigger pirate who actually knows what he is doing (Saan even, maybe?) will do him in. Maybe he will end up rowing on the "Sweet Cersei" after all.

Meh, I thinks he really IS the opportunist as many would say. He is just too young to be an experienced schemer and Martin is too lazy to pull out a character that he barely even mentions from the depths of his story and give him a very important role in the coming storm. He certainly will not join Dany - he wasn't mentioned in Quaithe's prophecy (which was 100% right about her "guests" in Meereen). There could be a clue on joining Aegon - some Golden company sellswords landed on Stepstones after the storm - but only the stupidest members of the old Valyrian houses of Westeros, who have supported the Targaryens for centuries don't know that the Golden Company are the Blackfyres loyalists, ffs they are direct descendants of the knights who fought on the Blackfyres' side in all their rebellions. And then all of a sudden they poured over and rushed into the flame of a civil war supporting Targaryen claimant - aha, a good bedtime story. What is his reason to support Stanis and probably die in flames like his fanatic-stepbrother other than his supposed loyalty? (pretty boring I would say) He is a not even an heir to Driftmark, even if Stanis will legitimize him - his two nephews can't just disappear. I think he pretty much loves his nickname and it's kinda opportunist thing too, this probably means he doesn't really care about anything else but benefits. That's why being a pirate-king totally fits him. Maybe Martin wanted to show us more people, who climbed the Chaos in his story.
