I never viewed these when they first aired, now I love them! Also, the cut of Lord Peter's suits is superb!

Brilliant! Remember them on TV the first time round. 'The Nine Tailors' was my favourite. Ian Carmichael was born to play this part.

I remember watching this episode as a rerun in August 1975 with my grandfather. My grandma had gone out to see a production of My Fair Lady starring a beauty pageant winner. My grandma would not have approved of the antics of Dian De Momerie!

The sound cut off around 48:00min. It's been decades since I saw this series. So glad I ran across it! Loved it back in the day! Ian Carmichael was my favorite in this roll. I didn't realize there was a series in the 80's also. Lots to check out! Thanks!

I'm amazed by how Iain Carmichael manages not to spill his cup of tea or glass of brandy on the arm of his chair! He must have been a dancer.

mark prescott Actually Margery Allingham was drawing on her own experience in an advertising agency and if you read the book forgetting about the mystery aspect you will have an insight into the different aspects of advertising based on first hand experience. Very biting descriptions...

Margret Christie Yes those Latin terms...Gaudy night- Placetne Domina. Has anyone else been courted and proposed to in this manner ever in reality or in books. Nevertheless you may have noticed that Dorothy L Sayers had this habit of assuming that her reader was as intellectual as she was because if you see Clouds of witness and Busman's honeymoon they are interspersed with letters written in French. So I believe one has to have an IQ a little higher than that of a boiled rutabaga in order to appreciate her very amusing, insightful works of whimsy no pun intended:-).

D Js Yes, ive seen these. I think its rather a shame, myself. Thank goodness you can enjoy the books without them.
