I mean I don’t think she’s bashing Pure Heroine but at the same time let’s be real Melodrama is a stronger album as a whole so she’s evolving like an artist should.

Ricardo R. I disagree. Melodrama is MORE personal and stripped down but SO great. However, there is something really hauntingly beautiful and THOUGHT PROVOKING about Pure Heroine. If I have to choose only one Lorde's album, as much as I am obsessed with Melodrama, I will still go for Pure Heroine simply because It talks about a lot of things and it is not restricted to Loving relationships, breakups, Making fun memories and partying like Melodrama.

She's just answering the question on how she felt making the album. Because, in the first place, there is no pressure in making your debult album so that"s why she said that making Pure Herione was chill and easy and fun. On the other hand, creating and making ideas about your musical direction on your second album seems more complicated since you are aiming a definite goal which is to maintain your artistry. There's a lot of artists who gained critical success in making their debut album but failed to maintain their artistry (especially those who went mainstream) with their following albums.

I'd take Melodrama all day personally. I love both albums but top to bottom I just think Melodrama is much stronger and I definitely find the emotional depth of the album much more interesting.
