I now own a hotpoint Aquarius washer/dryer 8kg+6kgdry 1400rpm. I owned one many years ago when I was young and starting out a hotpoint Aquarius funny enough it was awful used loads of electricity never dry and was also very loud especially at 1200rpm and I swore I would never own one again! But there wasn’t anything in the shop that was the colour I wanted bar the washer dryer so I took a risk and bought It reconditioned and I must say this time around I love it , it’s got a big drum and actually dries well if not overloaded it’s quiet I live in a flat and I can set it to wash and dry my work shirts and trousers couple of other things in there to and there all clean and dry in the morning and I can go to bed (I do lates) wake up and just take them straight out don’t even here it doing anything… I like it and I live on my own I do own a little indesit 4kg dryer but only use that if I got a lot to do! most of the time I use the washer dryer and it works great but does take a while… doesn’t bother me I turn it on and go out 👍🏻

You didn’t mention the most important point - heat pump, which reduces the heat temperature at the same efficiency level. It helps to safe fabrics from damaging and shrinking. Only 1% of washer dryers are equipped with the heat pump. That’s the biggest disadvantage of washer dryers

Thanks for the info! My main consideration is convenience - I want to be able to throw clothes in the wash and leave for work, then come back home to dry clothes. Or put a load in, go to sleep, and wake up to dry clothes. As long as the wash-dry process is automatic, that's definitely gonna be my choice over separate ones.

You should be able to come back to dry clothes, but some of them might be quite creased depending on the type of material they are made from. Creasing seems to be more of a problem than with separate tumble dryers.

I now have my second washer dryer (replaced about 4 years ago). I would never have the space for two separate units, but I also like the convenience of putting the washing in, setting the timer to have it start overnight (when my electricity costs are lower), and have it all finished in the morning. Aside from the delay timer, and the load size, the comprehensive display was an important factor in my choice of machine. It was not just that it displayed the time it would run, but that it gave me at a single glance a comprehensive display of all the settings I had set just in case I had accidentally set something wrong.

I have a washer dryer too. I only use my dryer for my bedroom pillows, but it is a really good machine anyway. One thing that I think wasn't mentioned was the water usage. The dryer has to have water flow passing across the drum , so I could imagine the water costs may well be high if you choose to use the machine as a dryer very often.

I thought long and hard before buying a washer drier when my drier broke down. I live in a small apartment and therefore haven’t really got the space. I love my washer drier but because I am so use to hanging my clothes on a clothes airer when wet I only use the drier occasionally to dry my towels or bed linen. This stops condensation mounting up having big items hanging around my home waiting to dry.

we just recently bought a house and replaced the 30 year old washing machine and separate dryer with an all in one washer dryer combo thing (really similar to the one you show on the left or well the right of you.) sadly we are so disappointed with it, we are thinking of getting rid of it and going back "old school" again, with 2 dedicated machines. main reason is speed! it takes nearly 5 hours to wash and dry (40c, completely dry to put in the drawer) which before, with 2 machines took us 1 hour and 30 minutes plus the stuff felt waaaay softer when it came out of the dryer

Also i have a budget of 60k so should I buy 10/6 or bosch 8kg wash + bosch 7kg dryer which will cost about 65. Really confused please help. No space constraints. Family of 2. I am like 10kg is always better than 8kg and additionally I am getting dryer combined, so I should go for a combined machine. Because dryer is free even if I don't use it I have a 10kg machine so I can wash only twice a month, and if needed can always buy a separate dryer. You should mention that these higher end machines are being available for rent on monthly basis. You pay a premium but everything is covered. Imagine people spending hundreds of pounds on high speed optical fiber data connections, TV and subscriptions and forget the essentials like washing and drying. Spending 30 ponds a month on one of these machines is a rational price considering they get used every day and might need repair some day. Contracts range between 1-6 years, in the Netherlands it is a big thing. Btw, some machines like Siemens IQ machines have LED blue lighting so you can see the tumble clearly (Only at the start though) That should be an option for continuous on or off.

We bought one last year and I love it. We had a washing machine and tumble dryer but our house is so small we had to have the tumble dryer in the living room. When our washing machine broke last year, we got rid of the tumble dryer and replaced it with the 2 in 1 in the kitchen. We only wash and dry one load a week, very rarely two. So its absolutely perfect for me and my partner 👌 Wouldn't recommend them if you have a family with kids where you need to do a lot of washing because they do take a long time to wash and dry and you can't load as much in them.

Great video and very informative. I am considering purchasing either the Miele WTR860WPM washer dryer or the Bosch WDU28569GB (?) washer dryer on the right in this video. The Miele costs £2000 and the Bosch costs £1000. Both washer dryers have very similar offerings, with Miele (it seems) edging ahead of the Bosch ever so slightly in terms of features and performance. However, there is a large price difference between the two. What are your thoughts on the differences (price, performance and features) between the two?
@lords-electrical
@lords-electrical 2 жыл бұрын
Must admit we don't normally stock the Miele model so it is probably a little unfair to compare it. If the features and spec are very similar then i would go for the Bosch all day long as these are great machines anyway, especially if it is half price.
@i2mee
@i2mee 2 жыл бұрын
@@lords-electrical Thanks for your response. I appreciate you don’t stock the Miele. My confusion is more about performance rather than features and specification. Because, for example, the Indesit shown in your video has quite similar specification and features to the Bosch shown in the same video, however they are very different prices (Bosch is a high end, and Indesit is lower end). So the reason for the price difference must come down to brand name and actual performance, I am guessing, rather than specification? I guess my question, in short is, is a significantly more expensive washer dryer (the Bosch) expected to perform much better than a significantly cheaper one (the Indesit) if both have similar features and specification. If so, how is that performance difference measured or quantified to cause such a huge price difference?

I have a basic question. Lets say that the washer dryer has the following capacity - 10 kg washing/6 kg drying. You put 6 kg of laundry for washing. After the washing cycle though this 6 kg of laundry will become more than 6 kg because it will contain water of course. Does that mean that you have to remove some of the washed laundry before drying? I think you get my question. Thank you:)

Washing machines harbor a great deal of moisture, and vibration is par for the course; if you think washing machine are a good place for cheaply made expensive electronics, think again. I don't want a smart washer/dryer; and other than start the machine, I don't want to communicate with it, if it needs sophisticated programming to assist in troubleshooting, chances are there's not much I'm going to do about it. I currently inherited a a washer when I bought my home, and it contains a dial full of preprogrammed setting. Well guess what; other than normal, towels, and sheets, I have not used any other programs. And if the towel and sheets programs weren't there, I think I know how to set the water temperature to hot. I've watched half a dozen videos on the subject of washing machines, and which are reliable and affordable ($500-$600); everyone who attempted to answer that question provided a different answer. My guess is it depends on what they're selling. My conclusion is... there are no reliable machines at any price available today. Our grandparents had machines that lasted 20-25 years. To buy anything close to that today, you'll pay the price of a new machine, when you buy a used pre-2918 Speed Queen, and if you're lucky it'll be purely mechanical. If you find one, in good condition, it will have a lifespan left that will be longer than anything you buy today. And do you know why? Because manufacturers today believe that your money is worthless, and if you buy their products so do you. If everything you have is easy come, easy go, then have at it.

I went with a LG Wash Tower (two separate units that are stacked) and I can do twice as many loads as the old unit in the same amount of time. The old LG large capacity washer dryer unit was a pain to clean after each use as there is no lint filter (only a drain filter at the bottom). The lint would solidify behind the door gasket and would require removal of the door gasket periodically (not fun). Also, the drain pump failed after a couple of years as well as the interior light. The 3 to 4 hour plus cycle time to wash and dry a load of clothes was too much. I would not buy this type of unit if your household has more than two people. The backup of dirty clothes is cumbersome. I can do one load of clothes with the new setup in less than two hours. Well worth the switch.

I do atleast 2 cotton washes and 2 loads of drying a day ,had a Beko washer dryer replace my 20 year old indesit and had endless issues , repairs and burnt out within months. Have since had an aeg the past 5 years , runs smooth , quiet and it’s still going strong. In terms of the lint , although time consuming the only solution is running a quick wash cycle after each drying cycle which is what I do

@lords-electrical
@lords-electrical Ай бұрын
On any washer dryer, the drying performance can be poor if there is too much wet washing put in there. The performance will always be better if you put half a load max in the machine to dry.

I was looking on google about washer dryer combos and it said apparently you need a different wall socket because a normal UK Socket isn't powerful enough, Is this true? It's the only thing stopping me from getting one. I ain't saw on any videos anyone mentioning that they have diffrent plugs than a normal washer
@lords-electrical
@lords-electrical 17 күн бұрын
You can just use a normal wall socket for washer dryers as it is a domestic item. If it was a commercial appliance then that would be different.

Mould is caused by moisture in the air which condenses on cold surfaces encouraging the mould to grow. I don't see how a washer dryer will solve a problem with mould.

@lords-electrical
@lords-electrical 2 жыл бұрын
It is always a difficult one to gauge the weight of the washing, but i would always say make sure when you are loading the appliance that you have allowed plenty of space for the clothes to rotate and move around during the washing process. If you cram it full, then the performance of the wash will not be very good.

Really depending on how many washes you are doing and how many people in the house. Don't forget on large load machines, the depth of the machine will be greater which can make a difference. Also larger load machines can put a lot more stress on the bearings as well.

If you live somewhere they're sold. This one has a heat pump, and Electrolux's patent has blocked the sale of non-Electrolux washer dryers with heat pumps in Europe. But in the US, Australia and Asia, maybe. Note small items in this model, whether it's the Euro/UK washer-only version or the rest-of-the-world combo washer-dryer must per the user manual go in a mesh bag to avoid mishaps with things getting sucked where they shouldn't; there's quite a large gap between the drum and the door seal which I assume is due to the slightly different angles the machine sets the drum at for different kinds of cycle.

From my own experience, an individual washer + a heat-pump dryer is the best. I won't consider a condenser dryer anymore cuz I have had a bad experience with it.
@shoyrushoyru

i dont see a heat pump dryer being very convenient year-round for people in more temperate or cooler climates who dont need their dryer to cool their space. im concerned that i heard those are ventless as well. i'm not sure how well it could collect and trap lint, but with my traditional vented electric dryer, my basement is still insanely linty already from all the lint spillage. i cant imagine if some of that wasnt already being pushed outside by the vent for indoor air quality. whats your experience with lint and what climate do you live in? is your dryer in the house or in a garage or something?
