For all those calling the bikes junk, should go do this race, or the Baja 1000. It is rough on any machine. There were very well prepped Honda's that didnt finish this year, one rode by a many time 1st place finisher of the 1000
@KnockOut498 жыл бұрын
I know right, and in the end he even said that the bikes were not really designed for this type of race
@revmatch26487 жыл бұрын
That exactly what I am thinking! If you had ever seen the finish line you'd know every man and machine who makes it that far is limping across.
@revmatch26487 жыл бұрын
matty d Just curious where you have gotten your information? How do they not cope or compete with the GS800? If you want to talk about weight and competition Tiger 800 XCX dry=432lbs, BMW GS800 Adventure=496 dry weight.... so if the Tiger is overweight, what does that make the GS? The Tiger makes more horse power, similar torque at similar RPM, AND much better the gas mileage (77MPG@55MPH VS. 55mpg), plus the BMW requires premium fuel. I have ridden both but owned a 2013 Tiger XC rode it 13k miles and traded for a 2016 XCA now at 5500 miles and zero issues. Its all how you ride and these guys are riding like a$$'s because they do not have to pay for their machines anymore. Who down shifts without depressing the clutch to rev match ;D... or notices they hit suspension stops "30 times" but keeps doing it? These are a different kind of rider, great, but different... and I do like the GS's as well but prefer the Tiger.

Yes in racing you stay off the clutch as much as possible Whether the bike likes it or not

How are these "prepped" bikes so unreliable?
@mattb4rd9 жыл бұрын
They weren't race prepped, per say, that I could tell. They had a few mods that just about any serious desert rider would install. They beat the holy hell out of those bikes.
@sejlefrew9 жыл бұрын
Go watch a couple of the baja 1000 movies and you'll quickly learn that place will destroy anything
@cjarnst70209 жыл бұрын
Because those bikes weren't designed to be absolutely beat to all hell like that.
@MarkusReese9 жыл бұрын
They actually answered in the vid. 1, beating em all to hell "slower is faster" and second, like he said, not using the clutch shifting. Stuck in gear. cage is probably wrecked to all hell as well 18:38 you can almost see it ridged I think.... and stunters... sigh... "give the people what they want!" How about seeing triumphs finishing awesome? Bikes were better than the rider who broke em...

The last years Triumph has become the most reliable European bike. A Gs can do 100.000 miles... A Triumph definitely also. The only difference is that at the end of the race, the costs of the Beemer will be (at least!!) double! KTM is so cool, but they really have a long way to go! Ok, they race Dakar, but mechanics work on it every night!

ewwww paper filters. Yellow Tiger sucking dirt. Also I can't understand why it's so hard for some people to shift with the clutch....
@celuler228 жыл бұрын
your busting balls racing on a bike fuck that bang shift the dogs can take the abuse but i agree on the filters
@strippedthreadsrc72247 жыл бұрын
David Martin I agree. I use the clutch to shift, up or down. I laughed at them for complaining about having to use the clutch to downshift, but during a race I guess I can understand. I've always used the clutch to down shift and it doesn't bother me, I don't even think about it when I do, it's just natural.
@perarase26804 жыл бұрын
@@strippedthreadsrc7224 try to run fast off-road, and to use clutch even with two fingers... the thing is beside a speed and fastest gearing, that you have to have good grab & grip to handlebar....otherwise you will "bite the dust"! ;)

The real prep for these races is to have the support equipment and the teamwork to get it to the riders quickly. The 1000 race tears up all the vehicles and breakdowns are inevitable. It's won or lost in the pits - which are everywhere and nowhere in this kind of race.

Unfortunately "Triumph Italy" has not approved wheels are suitable to use the Tiger 800 XC / XCX / XCA in the land for which has been designed this fantastic bike. The only possible use in Italy is on an asphalt road. OFF road is absolutely not possible because of the lack of approval of suitable tires. Shame to see that the rest of the world does not have these problems ... Perhaps the problem is due only to the managers of Italian Triumph.
I would be impressed if you guys did this without a support crew and carrying all of your own gear with you.
@Runeguy339 жыл бұрын
Every entrant had a crew. You couldn't do the race without one.
