If this game had a remnant 2 quality of co-op it would be a MAJOR selling point even when going against fromsoft.

@@ChuckFinelyForever lol that's indeed a good starting point. I was just pointing out if they actually implemented the "seamless" co-op properly then this game would've been so much better. imagine if elden ring had remnant2 style co-op, it'd be game of the eon instead of year.

It was for me. I am in the middle of sekiro. Started a month ago. And i own one of the darksouls from xbox gsmes eith gold. Got a ps4 from a friend sitting never touched but eill for bloodborne snd last of us preinstalled. I wanted to get this despite having lies of p day one via gsme pass and never playing elden ring. Still this was the einner since i thought they had seamless co-op. Its entire design is made for co-op. All the non technical complaints are all about the design being suitable for co-op

That's what these souls likes need to do. Make a game with co-op as a priority with souls gameplay. Make a persistent world between companions where if someone dies they just respawn in world, no need for another summon. Make it easy to join up. Most importantly, design levels and encounters with multiple people in mind, rather then shoving 2 or 3 people into a level designed for one player.

You asked about latency issues, my brother and I both live in Washington State, so I thought I might help with the question. We've been playing multiplayer from day two, and noticed similar issues with latency. And while we live maybe thirty miles away, the problems you mentioned in this video are present in our games as well. Almost to the same level, we both have the same Internet provider and similar up/down speeds. Hope that was helpful, keep up the great videos!

I am absolutely loving this game. One of my new favorite games of all time. I do the exact same thing you’re doing. I play by myself and then I also have been doing a coop playthrough with my dad. The only soulslike he ever played was remnant 2 and he loved it. We have been enjoying it so much!!! The coop is amazing imo and it just makes me love this already incredible game even more. Yeah, it sucks you don’t both get items. But, odds are, you aren’t both going for the exact same builds so you could just drop the items for your friend. I also have perfect latency with absolutely zero issues. I was really impressed with it. I hope the devs understand how great of a job they did with this game. Everyone seems to just want to hate on it. Some criticisms are justified but I think you get what I’m talking about.

The first souls like I played that had coop like this was hellpoint. Once you invited the guest they stayed in your world even after you defeated the area boss and if the guest died you can revive them if you both die you respawn at the breach. I hope we start to see more coop like this in future souls likes.

As someone who never really played the souls games. I was looking forward to playing co-op with my friend with this game. But learning that you can’t share the same progression on the story, got me thinking I should hold off on buying the game now.

The whole point of coop in Souls games is that you have your own world, and you get help when you need it. The design of the worlds have a lot of work put into them, and are worth playing through multiple times. Once you figure out how an area works, it is much easier to do it again with the other person

@orc001 true but there's alot of people out there who want to play the game with no one invades you and its shared progress. I like the idea of not using items to summon people and when you play with them till you send them away but I feel a shared progress is better then having to jump into 2 different games to play. Just my preference.

One reason shared progression could be so hard to implement on this type of game is because how do you share progress of side quests that you or your friends may have failed when not playing with you but you still have said quests progressing because you did talk to certain npcs at the right times but I do feel like they could find a way to implement being able to get items and equipment

The reason they put that fog wall next to the sanctuary is because once you cross into that room, you can drop right down into the boss arena.

A helper can leave a host's world by going to Settings >> Multiplayer >> End Session. I haven't checked, but I'm guessing that's how a host can kick a helper as well.

If you engage the enemy at the bottom of the area near the Sanctuary vestige it will teleport you to the host. That area acts as the "boss room". That's why the butterfly wall is there.

A single Modder made Seamless Coop for Elden Ring on Pc with shared loot, progression, respawns shared souls and same amounts of flasks, its achievable. Loving the game btw but coop needs some love.

So when discussing the Souls Multiplayer Standard, there's something that really heavily impacts a lot of the Foundational Mechanics that people don't really think about anymore. Namely, while Technical Limitations may have been a factor to begin with, the bigger factor that has defined these mechanics is that they were designed for "Demon's Souls" or more specifically for "The World of Demon's Souls" and haven't significantly changed after that. The reason a lot of MP related Mechanics kinda turn into Head-Scratchers is because in "Demon's Souls" (and DS1 and DS2) there was a very big emphasis on making sure that everything, even things that in any other series would have just been Game Mechanics, were designed as actual Physical Things that happened In Universe. In the Souls Games even Dying and Respawning at an Archstone or Bonfire or Lamp or Site of Grace isn't just a Game Mechanic to allow the player to play, it's an actual phenomena that actually happens in the SoulsBorneRing Universe(s). This is also true of Summoning and Invasions. In Demon's Souls only Phantoms can be Summoned, and they remain Phantoms as they are Summoned. So of course they cannot interact with the world or pick up items, they're just Ghosts. Of course they don't risk dying, they're just displaced Ghosts and 'Dying' is just them losing their connection with the world they've been summoned to and returning to theirs. Invasions are the same thing just with a Red and Black Edgelord coat of paint and some Angry Eyebrows. On Victory you don't get any Demon's Soul Item, but instead use the absorbed power to resurrect back to Human Form. This was mostly preserved in DS1 and DS2 where it came down to Humanity. Bosses dropped Humanity and Invaders came seeking it out. That's why the first incarnation of a Password System was the Name Engraved Ring in DS2, it was an attempt to implement a Password System while still grounding it as an actual physical thing that literally happened in the world of the game. Then BB didn't bother and DS3 and ER kept that trend going. Souls Games need to stop taking these mechanics for granted and actually think about them, and how they are going to integrate them into the world. But at this point most of them just Copy and Paste. In fact I would say one quick way you can use to see if a Souls-Like has been designed with Passion and Care is whether or not Dying and Reviving has an In-Universe Explanation. The original Lord's of the Fallen didn't (or if it did I didn't get to hear it), and that was one of the first things I picked up on as I played it all those years ago that it wasn't going to be that good. This new one, to its credit, has actually thought about it enough to make the entire system very critical to the story and world of the game. They did not do this with the Multi-Player system (in some ways). Preferring instead to simply make it an unexplained Gameplay Mechanic and seemingly nothing more. I suppose in LotF's defense, it seems not even FROM is paying too close of attention to these sorts of things anymore. And some things that should not have been forgotten, were lost.

I wish we could get a Souls game that is essentially like Diablo 2. You get in and can just explore with your friends. No leash. No annoying shit. Shared progress on the quests.

On the subject of the guest not losing any vigor for dying in your world, I kind of feel like the reason for that is because the host can revive them, so having their vigor constantly dropping on the ground only for them to be revived and able to pick it up straight away, even if the enemy that killed them is still alive, doesn't make any sense. The more important point when it comes to this issue, is that the guest doesn't get the option to switch between Axiom and Umbral, so they don't get the second chance at life that the guest gets by switching them into Umbral, so if they were to get killed by some of the silly 'jump scares' when an enemy is waiting around the corner waiting to push them off the edge of a cliff, it would be pretty unfair to make them lose it without getting that second chance.

The butterfly wall by sanctuary is there because if the host falls off the wooden beam the boss fight starts instantly

The AI locking onto a dead person actually happens with the AI summons as well once in a while, so whatever that issue is, it's not specific to co-op.

Remnant coop dups the loot for each player. Remnant is tough alone though and it seems like coop is the way to get through the game. I do agree the duping items can make the game easier. In Elden Ring, we would cause characters to get something and then drop them for our main characters. It was more work, but it allowed you to duel weld weapons. There is only one of them during normal gameplay. Great commentary on your coop thoughts and findings.

I think only Monster Hunter is where co-op properly scales and a fight can be still challenging. Especially when considering the number of carts allowed. Lol

I get that some people in comments think that souls like games shouldn't have co op progression system but this game's devs were saying there will be seamless co op system. Which means you can play whole game with your friends. We were actually hyped for the game cuz we thought it is going to be like seamless co op mod elden ring or remnant 1 and 2. It isn't. I don't like calling these games co op. Its not co op. Your friend only can come for help not to play whole game with you. Lying to your player base is not cool.

Just by joining coop it reset my boss loot from vendor. Now I run with 2 pieta swords and just melt everything

Even if the guest lost their vigor upon death, the monsters would not respond, and there would still be no risk associated with losing dying as there would be no challenge in getting it back. In regards to the guest, not being able to loot items I think the only thing that would make sense is that if the guest looted an item, it is only available during that multiplayer session and disappears when the guest goes back to their own world. Otherwise, I could start a new game with a friend who is about to loot the sword of Damocles (not an actual item in the game) and then I can just cheese my way through the entire game

My issue right now is playing 6 hours with a friend. He got like 100 coins and I got like 20. Like he gets 30 pilfered coins on a boss kill and I get none. Like wtf.

Do we know if the coop partner is scaled to the hosts level? Since progression isn’t shared, I would want to beat the game first and then use that character to play coop and help people out. If that’s not the case, I’d just end up carrying everyone through the game.

You can choose to leave the host's game or kick your partner as the host by going to the multiplayer tab of the options menu in game.

My wife and I have had our eye on this one b/c we loved co-op through ER and DS3. But it sounds like it would be best to wait a bit longer before giving this one a try until they can get things a bit more together on their end. (PS5)

Guests cannot change their runes if they have not found the tablets and given them to the blacksmith. I know this, because I had a friend of mine who I was co-oping with share his screen through Discord and show me what he was seeing with the interface (I also watched him upgrade a weapon enough to give it a rune slot before this) and while he could select the 'socket rune' option, the entire interface was nonfunctional. His weapon behaved as though it had no rune slots, even though it definitely had rune slots.

On ps5 to disconnect or kick someone go to settings, then multiplayer tab. The option is there

Two things, you can kick players. It located under multiplayer in settings. Second, we should be able to choice when we beckon a friend, for it to be coop or pvp. So we change challange each other.

Bosses don’t need changed at base easier or harder. Challenge mode would be grand, so would boss rush, but this game has a nice sweet spot of difficulty for someone like me personally.

No it's not bad at all 99% of the time that I've played with my friend. I'm in the England and he's on the west coast of USA. There have been very few incidents where I've felt like the latency of the game was what made us die

Bosses get harder on new game+ it’s an insane gap where people will start complaining it’s to hard but sadly some will never see ng+ I’m lvl 170 ng+ I’m mid game been stuck on a boss for a few hours.

Nioh and Nioh 2 had seamless co op but the draw back was you couldn't co op unless you have the same amount of progress in the game since it was mission based.

I'm still looking for a Co-op game to play with a friend . I'll add this to the list. Conserning consules update needing validation... *good!* While I love the Steam deck, its constant updates drive me up the wall. Why do people tolotate frquent updates? I'm so tired of new updates breaking something ingame. (Yes, the Steam stable August update bug is still there)

Not sure what you expect them to do when you're playing co-op with someone over 7,000 miles away from you. I've played with a buddy in the same town and haven't had any latency issues.

I've noticed in co-op were I'm always doing less damage than the host for example my friend was in the fen and he's doing 58 to 60 something damage while I'm doing 18 damage and I'm much further in the game than him and not only much higher level but my weapons are upgraded to do more more damage than his yet I'm barely scratching enemies I'm basically deadweight at that point I get scaling players to the host but not scaling them to be weaker than the host this is especially true of invasions when mixed with terrible net code because I had invasions were after talking to the person I invaded they were much lower level than I was and I could barely hurt them while they nuked me

Latency is terrible even when its with players close to you. Its actually so bad with invasioms being even worse. Items should 100% be shared outside of quest specific items just like Remnant does.

I can't seem to use multi-player at all. I turned cross play off and I'm using pretty decent internet, my ps5 is also connected to the network. I can que for anything and nothing happens... at all, ever.

Me and a buddy are playing threw the game and there's nothing but rubber banding and latency issues and we like 2 min away from eachother. Although we play on xbox. But our frame rates drop extremely low at time more often than should be allowed ahaha, but still both of us love the game.

I play with a friend in the same city, neighborhood next door The ruberbanding is so trash we have a 50% chance of dying by passing near a abyss every time getting teleported to our death

My only problem is why tf do i do half the damage as the host? Like why his dagger do 120 per hit and my fcking graaand sword +5 do 30 Ps: even when npc summons die while taking aggro from bosses, bosses will still target their place. Not just an online thingy

You can play the whole game in co op but I don't like how it's not equal. Like I'm the host and a player has to join my game and doesn't get all the loot I get. So they have to basically start over if they play their game. Hopefully they fix that. There's a lot of stuttering in co op too. I will say, the game is so hard without a co op buddy. I'm still trying to beat the first boss myself lol

The multiplayer is so dang fun and I appreciate them as well! It needs fixed so badly! Frame rate and rubber banding, along with stuttering is horrendous. Honestly it doesn’t feel like they even tested coop once before launch, if you reset your game every hour it’s more consistent but hearing people complain about 58 fps need to stfu, I swear it gets down to 12 often; you’ll double jump and walk over gaps or just not jump, host or not, mine plays better on the S than his does on his X, and performance mode and turning off motion blur helps, but again, regardless if the game is running smoothly for 5 minutes, every hour close the game and join each other again. That said it’s so fun I do end up jumping right back in even through the bs. Joiners can’t complain about getting less vigor than the host, only the host loses vigor so freeloaders should quit whining over unimportant stuff. The guest loses because of the lag, when you’re the guest the whole game is a gamble so there is risk already, seriously you get glitched off of countless ledges and the host can’t get back up to you so it usually leads to him dying trying to get to a vestige. So far this game is a terrible fun, glitchy punishment that rewards you. It’s far better performance-wise in single player. It’s a great single player game and a fun coop game in desperate need of fixing. If you don’t have seizures the game will make you feel like you are at times, and you can say that’s mean but I have 5 types of seizures so I feel it’s scaled correctly.

I think that's fair... Having a co-op player get more souls but risk losing them that way they are more cautious.... It makes the game an even playing field. In terms of items... I'm on the fence... I don't think people should get items that have yet to be explored from a players main game.. but to each his own.

From what I've heard this was done on purpose. Even if you're being invaded the game will force the players to match levels within a specific range.

I think the amount of vigor that the guest received is fine. He can't lose em so it's good that way. Adding a way to lose em would not work I think. Imagine playing with random, you die and you get disvonnected. It's not gonna happen Anybody have a bug with the damage as a guest? No it's not the scaling. Lets say i do 300 damage, when the host dies, we respawn and now I do 100. I do less damage than him and Im 2x it's level.

Been playing this game on my PC flawlessly for over 70 hours since launch. Not a single crash, no buggs... no rubberbaning....simply just amazing gameplay. Weird that it differs so much... How ever, I love the game alot! :)

When I play single-player offline, smooth as butter on PS5 C1 OLED TV. Playing co-op on the same router hard-lined we have dipps down to 40, with the most recent update. If you're trying to co-op, I'd suggest waiting. If it's going to be a big problem, some areas are pretty bad. We also noticed that after a while, co-oping the host ends up having a bad lag more than not. We still love the game and can't put it down, though.

Mine was running great since launch. The update yesterday though I had two crashes last night back to back. It was a farm I was running for large upgrade mats. It is kind of between three different zones. I figured that was the problem. Edit: I also play offline.

highly recommend Nioh 2 for a solid co-op soulslike. nearly 90% shared progression. Also Salt snd Sanctuary for steam play or local co-op.

Dang the multiplayer on PC looks clean as hell. Solo on Xbox is a mess and you can’t even consider co-op. The frame rate straight tanks down to 30 fps and below on console in co-op.

The coop experience is borderline unplayable and I live close to my buddy. I bought this game for Coop and I can't stand trying to justify how awful it is to keep trying. Hopefully changes are coming. I was spoiled by remnant being so polished and amazing.

it's a buggy mess at least on console, you spawn at random place you never been to with a random number of heal half the time, and there is so much delay on these servers it become unplayable at time

And a lot of people hate it too. I'm looking for confirmation that users who are using a password cannot be invaded in this game. My friend and I have been playing for 3 days and we have had no invasions. We think it is because we use password, but it could also be due to the lack of quality on the network. Who knows. I would prefer a million years if it were because the game is made that way.
