well the thing about greatswords that most fantasy games and and shows and books and such get wrong is they aren't these big heavy things, they're actually pretty light for their size and the closest sword to Ice from what i can tell is the scotish claymore, which is a greatsword of very similar proportions, i just hope they show ice being used how a greatsword should be used and not how every other sword in got is used

@@modernviking6436 that just depends on how long the battle is, not to mention that holding the sword by the hilt isn't the only way of wielding it, a very popular way of using a greatsword is by holding the blade and the handle, it more evenly distributes the what weight there actually is and gives for some good guarding

@@zeakatep171 Ned won multiple battles including the Battle of the Bells the penultimate battle of Robert’s Rebellion, and later won further glory commanding Robert’s vanguard during the Trident and commanding with him during the Greyjoy Rebellion. Robb won numerous battles during the War of the Five Kings despite being just 14 years old, and only lost due to his honourable nature, aka marrying Jeyne Westerling and beheading Lord Karstark, which was fully deserved. He didn’t lose through battle. Compare that to Cregan who didn’t fight a single battle or duel during the Dance, and only arrived when it was a foregone conclusion. They have both won far more battles than any Stark who isn’t named Theon, not to mention Robb being a warg and having a pet Dire-wolf.

What’s more interesting is that the armor he wears is exactly the same as the one the Starks wore in game of thrones. Which to me I hope we see at least some differentiating detail, but otherwise it could make sense with the North being more rigid and set in their ways. They found one method of making armor that worked and they stuck to it.

Aemon was the greatest knight and kingsguard due to his moral although great fighter, I think Daemon Blackfyre was the strongest warrior from the Targaryan family as he was heralded like the god of combat and even got knighted at 12.

@@Dimassaputra14 I don't think so. I think bloodraven knew one way to isolate Daemon on the battlefield was to arrow his sons, and when Daemon B came to rescue them he shot him down. As for helping a wounded enemy he did have that exchange with a Corbray (Gwayne maybe) that Daemon was perhaps too honorable with a 1v1 and it gave Baelor Breakspear sufficient time to come in with the counter attack.

It was mentioned in the season 1 finale that Cregen was a little older than Jace. If Jace is 17 or 18 then I'm guessing cregen is in his early 20s.

Cregan was the best. He still wanted Lannister Baratheon and Hightower severely punished even when they were reduced to orphans under regency and mewling widows. Meanwhile Corlys was gonna let everyone go with impunity under the argument that the guilty parties were already dead, even though it's delusional to think that children and widows are no threat

They are not nobodies. They nobles from house Toyne and are great fighters and Aemon managed to slain them before finally succumbing to his own wounds. The situation was pretty similar to the fight that happened at the tower of Joy where Arthur Dayne fought against the Ned and his bannermen but except Aemon manages to kill all the assassins so Aemon is definitely a great warrior as no other knight would be able to withstand such an assassination attempt

@@tonyfan4242 i agree with everything u said except arthur dayne would probably win that since in the books its highly hinted at that Howland warged into arthur so they could beat him. evidence for this is ned saying arthur would have killed him if it wasn't for howland but refused to say what howland did,when he was younger he spent time learning the magic of the crannogmen. and whatever howland did took so much out of him that he's unable to leave his castle ever since. (I think when he warged into howland ned kiIIed him and the shock of death crippled howland somehow even after returning to his body. so in short arthur fought a 3 v 7 against northmen that were hardened by war and still would have won if it wasn't for magic

Ice is too big to be wielded in battle. George said so, so I doubt it, but for people who are wondering why Jace is at the wall, I believe we will see a callback to the very 1st episode of GoT which is why Cregan is there too! A Night's Watch brother who either deserted and got caught or Wildlings who got caught will say they saw the Whitewalkers before they are executed just like the opening of GoT! That's why Ice is across his back! Rumor is we will see either Whitewalkers or the wights this season...which has some book fans in a tizzy! I fully believe that George is using Ryan Condal to help try and "fix" what Dan and Dave did to GoT by making the most important thing the Iron Throne, which it's not....the Whitewalkers are! D&D screwed that up so bad by making Dany and Cersei the big bads and leaving out most of the magic, which is why now we got "The Song of Ice and Fire prophecy" in HoTD written on the knife! Ryan and George are trying to remind us the importance of why the Targaryens are supposed to sit the iron throne and it's not because they're pretty dragon riders! It's because they are needed to ride the fire breathing lizard against the millions of dead people who will eventually head their way one day!

Tywin had it reforged into two smaller valyrian steel swords. One for Jaime, who later gave it to Brienne and another for Joffrey which he named widow's wail.

Not casted. He exists in the show, according to Olivia Cook, but whether or not they will involve him in the war remains to be seen. After they cut Nettles, I could very easily see them cutting Daeron. It would be practicle in the long run not to have to shoot around a child actor's schedule and not have to animate another dragon.

I don't like the look, it's like they tried to make him look like Eddar and Jon at the same time, they should go for someghing more natural. It doesn't look good to me.

@@Emy-fv5ny calm your tits, it's intentional to show growth and maturity over time when eventually we'll met him again in season 4, so something is changed about him. He'll be absence in season 3, and probably show in the middle of season 4. Remember, he takes 2 bloody years to finally arrived to Kings Landing, he'll have his majestic beard ready for The Hour of the Wolf.

The first book doesn't cover everything. We'll likely hear more about Cregan's later years and regards to how him and Aemon came to blows.

I have a question. If Aemon was the greatest Targaryen warrior, what about Rhaegar, who was second only to Arthur Dayne? And it's probably Arthur Dayen with DAWN. So he is superior to Selmy, so Rhaegar is pretty close to Selmy I guess. Even if we are talking about Arthur without Dawn, he still is the greatest swordsman of Westerosi history. So Aemon is better than Rhaegar but worse than Selmy and Dayne ?

Rhaegar isn't even in the conversation when talking about the best warrior in the novel. He's not even in the top 5 during his own lifetime and maybe not even in the top 10. Robert killed him pretty quickly, going by Ned's statement in the books. Robert fought his way savagely to where Rheagar was, and after less than a dozen exchanges, Robert smashed his chest. Top 5 during his time is probably Arthur Dayne, Barriston Selmy, Robert Baratheon, Gerold Hightower, Lewynn Martell, or Oswell Whent.
