Loretta, I don't know if you read these but I have listened to you my entire life, when you came to S.C. about 13 years ago me and my daddy made sure my entire family was right their with me to see you in person. I waited my life to see you in concert and you surly were worth the wait. I even got my teenagers to come with me and they loved you all 3 of them, and my little one was just 2 and she and I sat up right on the floor and you actually waved at her and she waved back. My daddy loved to listen to you and he is the one that got me listening to you before I even understood how powerful and what strength you always had. I watched coal miners daughter when it came out, I must have been about 12 or 13 and I just cried and also laughed but more than anything I understood I was about the age you got married and I just could not believe that sort of responsibility on a kid. But I got married at 17 and also started having babies and my first husband was "something else" and I turned to a lot of your music for comfort. Well here I am at 50 that sweet little 2 year old in my lap singing and clapping with me to your voice is now 15 and sings taught herself to play guitar by ear and sings like an angel, and I just can not believe how long ago that has been. My daddy bought all of our tickets and we of course went with him, well he died going on 4 years now and for several years I could barely listen to you with out just bursting in tears missing my daddy so much. I now have 6 grandbabies of my own and my daddy was so young to pass we had planned on taking a trip to Hurricane Mills but life happens and we never got to make that trip with my daddy. I pray that me and my husband will make it over that way one day and I will get to see it for me and my daddy. I just wanted to say I just love this video and to let you know what a impact you have had in my life. Thank you for always being you and keep on singing till the good Lord calls you home, I will get to meet you there one day on those streets of Gold filled with Gods glory. You are such a natural beauty, I am 50 and you look way better than me. I just love you to pieces and you take care of yourself. Much love

I was born in 1932 and raised in a mining community in Scotland. My father was tragically killed down the pit 2 months before I was born, so my sibling and I were raised by mother and grandmother. Even though I was raised thousands of miles away, this songs has always resonated with me since I first heard it in the 60s/70s (I’m not sure when it was exactly) God Bless you Loretta.
