Performance by Loretta Lynn. Loretta, the coal miner's daughter, is famously from "Butcher Holler", a section of Van Lear, a mining community near Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky.

She grew up dirt poor, and more than paid her dues by traveling with "Mooney" all over trying to get radio stations to play her record....Talk about determination....And there isn't ONE female "country" singer today that can hold a candle to her....

We will always have this music but I know what you mean. My take on why music today is so vapid and hollow is that life for several generations now has been far too easy. No hard times, no blues, no challenges, no severe defeats, no well fought victories...all of which develop character. Kids now are just handed to on a silver platter.

WOW it's very refreshing to see young folks Loving the country music today. Love it with your heart, Old School Country music is grass roots, Its a part of our lives cause we make it by living it. I like John Denver, I LOVE Loretta Lynn & Patsy Cline & Carrol Baker & her song "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" the most & Dave Dudley. When I was young, I actually hated Country music cause it was always playing when my Dad & uncles got to drinking & Bringing the house down & fights breaking out, so I associate drinking & country music together as 2 things to avoid, so I stopped listening to it until just recently, but I always loved the above mentions singers because their music was more or less upbeat even the sad ones. If people mock you for liking Country music, IGNORE THEM :)

Michael De Ponte Agrees. Loretta was pretty much the first for everything! first to win CMA female vocalist, first to win entertainer of the year from the females. First and only woman to be named artist of the decade for the 1970’s by the ACM awards. So yeah she’s definitely the queen! And first to come to nashville singing real songs from her own POV, from her heart. First to also have a movie made about her. She’s just the best. Best female country singer of all time. She’s awesome. Nobody comes close

A great song by Loretta from 1971. This was Loretta's last year on the Wilburn Brothers Show when she parted with them. Loretta went onto become the BIGGEST female country artist of the 1970's being named the "Artist Of The Decade" in 1979 by the Acedemy Of Country Music. The first & only woman to ever win this award.

@@stevenstone1065 stfu. She was one famous person who was actually real, as in genuine, there is no way she is an illuminati type. Do you ever see her on tv or in the media? No. You do, however, see Dolly Parton all over the place because she has sold out to the media. Loretta is a true Christian not a liberal and she wont go with that agenda, which is why they don't plaster her icon everywhere and speak of her like an idol like they do with other old celebs who weren't even nearly as influential and important as she was and is. You obviously have no discernment if you can't see that, and if you think every woman is a man. Yes, most female celebs nowadays look weird as hell, but that's because they're full of all kinds chemicals, they're mostly freakishly skinny which makes their bone structure appear more mannish and anorexia triggers testosterone, they're demonic, they do weird satanic rituals at home while maintaining a facade for the public, they're drug addicts, they get tons of plastic surgery and fillers, they're deprived of sleep and nutrition, they're all mind control slaves of their handlers and suffering from that trauma based mind control, having nervous breakdowns behind closed doors. Loretta never even left her home state. 99% of these people live in LA. That alone should tell u something.

Well I like my lovin' done country style And this little girl would walk a country mile To find her a good old slow talkin' country boy I said a country boy I'm about as old fashioned as I can be And I hope you're lik'in what you see 'Cause if you're lookin' at me You're lookin' at country You don't see no city when you look at me 'Cause a country is all I am I love runnin' bare-footed Through the old corn fields And I love that country ham Well you say I'm made just to fit your plans But does a barnyard shovel fit your hands? If your eyes are on me You're lookin' at country This here country is a little green And there's a lot of country that a you ain't seen I'll show you around if you'll show me a weddin' band I said a weddin' band When it comes to love Well I know about that Country folks all know where it's at If you're lookin' at me You're lookin' at country You don't see no city when you look at me 'Cause country is all I am I love a runnin' bare-footed through the old cornfields And I love that country ham Well you say I'm a made just to fit your plans But does a barnyard shovel fit your hands? If your eyes are on me You're lookin' at country If your eyes are on me You're lookin' at country

Oh wow! Is that really Miss Loretta? I saw a documentary recently on here about mountain music - you and Johnny Cash talking about storytelling through song. If it happened you wrote a song about it! Wonderful ! - a friend of mine wrote a paper years ago about the links between mountain music and old English ballads. I think that is what is important- storytelling in music-! One of my fave stories I heard you tell was about Patsy Cline and the knickers that lasted forever! Xxxxx

This song was always my fave of hers. Country music started to change drastically by 1990. During the 1980s, Randy Travis and George Strait still had that old country sound with fiddles playing.
