Lorne Greene on nature, love, responsibility, "Bonanza" and more (1983). Actor Lorne Greene speaks eloquently about nature, love, and responsibility in this interview at his home. He reflects on how his long-running TV series "Bonanza" evolved, voices his displeasure with the "Code Red" series in which he portrayed a fire captain, and speaks enthusiastically about his award-winning wildlife documentary TV program, "Lorne Greene's New Wilderness." The integrity that men like Lorne Greene had is sorely lacking in television today. He was pure class and I could listen to him talk all day.

@@redpine8665 even back when Mr Greene came here it was just as bad as now. The difference is then they knew to keep things private and where the line they couldn't cross was. Now it's inflated ego's thinking they're talking to the rabble.

My late paternal Grandmother Getrude Esther Shuster OBM knew the late Lorne Greene aka Haim actually KNEW him back in Ottowa, Canada. They were in the Yiddish Club together back in the day. I wish I could have had the opportunity to meet this amazing 'old school' actor. From what my late grandmother told me..he (Mr. Haim aka Lorne) was a wonderful human being. As they say...She was 'Salt of the Earth'

Lorne Green sums it all up. The levels of morality responsibility and sense of being human is unbelievable. I think every episode has an invaluable lesson on life. Respect for life, the law and the environment was very high on their agenda.. the cast carried it off beautifully.. those were the days!!!!

This explains a lot. I'm not a young man, but I'm "younger" so I decided to binge watch Bonanza during the lockdown. One thing I definitely noticed and would point out to my dad (who grew up watching Bonanza) was the high level of violence during the first season, getting away with things you couldn't do outside of a TV-MA rating today. I also noticed that tpne change dramatically through the second season and evolve into the show that Bonanza is known to be. But that first season was something else!
