15 years since the Dodgers left Brooklyn in 1972 and the Dodgers would draw a big crowd every time back then at Shea Stadium. The were a lot Dodger fans still alive!

Big NY Mets fan. Good old days of baseball. My Mets had one of the top if not top pitching staffs in baseball. Seaver, Koosman, and Jon Matlack were great. Yes Mets did not score allot of runs, but did not need to since 2 runs and most of the time they only needed 3 runs to win a game. Back in the day when we played the game based on core fundamentals of pitching, defense, and timely hitting. Great days when pitchers bated and no DH crap. The American League would install the DH in 1973, the beginning and end of baseball as we knew it. Keep these Mets classics coming from the only true Mets ballpark, Shea Stadium. Love the planes flying over Shea and you can hear them behind home plate and the hitters would step out when the planes made the sounds as they flew over Shea. Priceless, good old days when baseball was a real sport!!!!!!

I remember this series! The Mets played a nine game home stand vs the California clubs: San Diego (Seaver had a no-hitter after eight innings in the 1st game of a July 4th doubleheader- Mets won, 2-0), the Dodgers (Mets took the middle game and, yes, I thought Dyer was safe at home on that play), and the SF Giants (Willie McCovey homered in the first two games, and the Mets took the third game behind Jon Matlack's 4-0 shutout gem: he would go on to be the NL Rookie of the Year).

Great upload! I've always wondered what became of these original broadcasts! I grew up in the Sixties and Seventies and remember watching these games with my dad on KTTV Channel 11 in the San Fernando Valley. I love the camera angle behind the catcher as the pitcher delivers his pitch! I lobbied to have Maury Wills inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall Of Fame to no avail! Gil Hodges did make it though. Can you find the 2nd Game of the 1966 World Series? That was, sadly, Sandy Koufax's last Major League Baseball pitched game and the Dodgers' defense let him down! To add insult to injury, after committing 3 errors! in the 5th Inning, Willie Davis let a line drive by Frank Robinson drop in between himself and Right Fielder Ron Fairly which was ruled a triple in the 6th Inning. Boog Powell then singled in Robinson ending Sandy Koufax's World Series Consecutive Scoreless streak at 24! Interestingly, Koufax got out of his last Inning with a very unorthodox double play when Andy Etchebarren hit a bases loaded ground ball to Third Baseman Jim Gilliam who threw home to John Roseboro stepping on Home Plate and then throwing to First Baseman Wes Parker! Double Play! Can you find any NBC Channel 4 Game of the Week broadcasts?

KTTV Ch. 11 was the long time Dodger station from 1958, the year the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles from Brooklyn, New York, until 1992, when the O'Malley Family that owned the Dodgers got fed up with the scheduling of programs by the Fox network, which bought KTTV in 1986.

Those were the days when pitchers went nine innings and more. They were not the overpaid six innings pitchers we see today.

I was 11 back then. What is interesting is cameras showed batter's view of pitches which modern broadcast don't do. Mets dud not have names on back of uniforms and fans wire street clothes and few wire Mets gear. I miss Shea😢. Prices were more reasonable even with adjusting for inflation. I miss the earl, 70's!

Ah, a great reminder that the Mets traded Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi! We were at Shea all the time in the early 70s. You could bring your own food into the stadium....imagine that.

Terrible call on the squeeze play at 15:50. Duffy Dyer had slid past the plate all the way to the elbow, the ump seems to be looking at his hip just waiting to see him get tagged, then gives him the hot dog out call. He's maybe 3 feet away from the play, and he still blows it. Bring on the robots!
