The Kings wore purple and gold uniforms with the jeweled crown for many seasons. If those colors look familiar, those were the colors of the NBA's Lakers. By the time Wayne Gretzky came to Los Angeles, the team chose to wear silver and black with the "Chevrolet" style logo on the front (P.S. The Kings new color scheme was inspired by the former NFL Raiders).

Nice video history of the first 25 seasons of Los Angeles Kings hockey. The Kings remain the only pro franchise not to emigrate from another city.
