@@dongiller Well I'm left wondering why he bothered to make the dedication. I know my brain likes to make stuff up, but I'm very sure there's an episode where some young man says something obliquely racist and Dave asks if the band is still here. Such a fan of The Loboses am I that I also recall reading about how they all thought the whole thing was very funny. Probably read that in the Wahoo Gazette. None of this affects my complete enjoyment of this compilation though, Don.

It was in their NBC contract to accompany bands on Late Night. As for Late Show, sometimes they played with the musical guest, sometimes they didn’t. When they did, it was because the music guest asked them to.

Particularly when, on Dream in Blue for instance, Louie and Conrad don’t even appear to be on stage. Surely that can’t be Los Lobos’ decision?

Using white sidemen in place of original members is an original sin. Who's bonehead idea was that and why did Los Lobos go along with it.

I had the same reaction. It looks to me like it's Will Lee on bass for all three of the Late Night performances, with Conrad only showing up to play tamborine on "Reva's House". I don't get why they'd do it, though. Especially for "Dream In Blue", that bass line is the backbone of the whole song; they should have let Conrad do his thing.
