The Coal Miners, an epic story, Lota, Chile, 1990
"Prix Image" at the 9th Television Scientific Show Festival in Paris, 1992. The award highlights the photographic image and the writing of the documentary. For the first time, we worked with available light at night and in the mine. The lights are the miners' headlamps to see the mine as the miners see it, to get closer with greater fidelity to the protagonists, to their work, their humor, and pain underground. The coal miners are a major part of history in one of the toughest jobs in the world in Chile. The documentary is now a film heritage because the Lota mine no longer exists.
