Yeah, each day passes of me calling him & the outlook gets sadder.

I’m hopeful that’s the case with Chewie. I keep looking for him cause I know cats are resilient that way. It’ll take a while for me to lose hope but then again I have lost 3 other cats with the same hopes. Sad time.

My kitty is 21 turning 22 and she has aged so much this year I keep thinking this will be her last year. Thyroid issues are very common in this age. She's on thyroid medication but it really sucks the life out of the senior cats. I feel for you and your loss of your kitty. I know I'm soon to be going thru the same heart break.

Oh thanks. Yes I’ve already moved Bubbles into a big crate and into the cat house. I’m not letting g her free with no control the same I did with Chewie. It’ll give her snd the other cats time to get used to one another.

He had come around so well too, I was so close to having him rejoin the rest of the cats in the cat house but he disappeared so quick. Still don’t know what happened to him, most likely predators but I hope he’s out there somewhere living it up.

Yes thank u. Bubbles has already been moved into a crate in the cat house. I’m gonna continue her taming there where she can become familiar with the rest of the crew again.

I’m sure there are owls up in the Forest abutting our property too. Everything wants to eat something else.

Yeah this is the fourth cat gone. More than likely coyotes. An lgd may be in our future if I can figure out how to do it.

It was tough, very sad. I was so close to putting him back him with the crew he was doing so well and I had got him confident enough to come to me and rub his body on me and I could pet him. Then he was gone 😢

That’s the thing about cats, they can survive by themselves. I’ll have hope for some time still and continue to ride around the property calling him name just in case.

Do u have the whole area fenced in? How do you keep the pyr from roaming? I think eventually we’ll have an lgd, I just need to figure out how as we’re running a farm stay vacation rental here too so a free roam lgd and guests don’t mix.

@@HiddenSpringFarm I’m setting up a little off grid clamping adventure, on part of the property. What I need to buy clothes off that part of the property and neither of the dogs nor the chickens go there. The chickens right now are completely free to run anywhere on the property as is the dog. But the dog also has the ability to get out of the fence through places that I have left open for him. I literally live at 3500 feet on a ridge line and there’s a single house west of me and nothing for miles going east. However, you cannot keep one of these dogs restricted long-term without an electric fence wire. Soon I will put the wire up and only leave a dog door for him to go through the fence over by the chicken coop. In case he needs to pursue some thing or even save a chicken . There’s no comparison to having one of these dogs. However, the biggest issue will be the parking at night. Although it’s a low bark that doesn’t bother me at all compared to, for example, a schnauzer, houseguests will surely hear it. Are use the Ridgeline to separate the Glamping tent, and the chickens and barking at night if I have guests.

We’re here since 2020 also. Isn’t there a vaccine for Parvo? I’m sure my dogs and cats had their shot for that. Good times and sad times.

@@HiddenSpringFarm when I got them, they didn’t have vaccines and because they were quarantined on top of a mountain. I thought it was OK to delay because one of the dogs had information from an injury. I didn’t know parvo was in the soil.

Thank you so much, I haven’t given up hope as cats are very resilient. That’s why I like the apple air tags on their collars, although limited capabilities it helps to find hiding cats. Every time I put a collar on him he just removed it.

@@HiddenSpringFarm that's the problem with free will haha, my cat is not liking a collar at the moment too but will keep trying. It's very easy for people to say "use a collar" or "contain them". They are animals and cat's can be very adamant about things.

Yes I’ve been so hopeful too. He wouldn’t wear a collar but when he was neutered along with Mango I had them microchipped so in case a shelter finds him or turns up somewhere they can trace it back to me. Sadly coyote’s are very skilled hunters too just like the cats are.

@@HiddenSpringFarm I didn't know that - we have a lot of coyotes in my neighborhood (in TX) and I always thought cats are smarter than them. I still have hope that Chewy is just being Chewy. Wishing you all the best!

Yeah I miss his cries believe it or not. I always just thought he was talking to me 😞. I’ve already moved Bubbles into a big crate into the cat house. She’ll stay in the crate for a while while she gets reacquainted with the rest of the crew at the same time I’ll continue trying to get her to trust me more.

@@HiddenSpringFarm I'm sure he was talking with you. I'm glad you're taking those steps with Bubbles. Farming's hard and pets are harder. Then there are the hard working farm pets. Oh, I did get my 2 Californian rabbits. 2 females right? Until one decided he was a boy! Uh-huh. Now there are 2 cages, but thank goodness we haven't seen signs of bunnies. I hope that story made you smile a bit.

Thank you. You know even my catio system is not purrfect as there are many days one of the cats doesn’t come back till midnight and stays out. We can’t change a cats nature unless they are a house cat from kitten hood. I miss him though.

I've been trying to lessen the dangers with my catio system but occasionally the cats don't come back right away. You're right it's hard to prevent nature. I do believe though I have an infinite amount of emotion & love to supply all my loved ones...humans and animals alike.

Sadly no, after his disappearance we only hoped he could find his way home. He was just coming around too and I was so close to having him rejoin the colony. I guess he went out of the barn at night and maybe a coyote got him. I hope he’s still out there but it’s been many many months now.
