So sorry, no matter how old, losing a parent is horrible. I lost my Dad on Christmas Eve when I was 5, lost my mother 5 years ago from complications of being hit by a car 7 years after the accident. My advice for you would be to find a hospice that offers grief groups. I was against going to one but it helped me immensely. It's a myth that grief lasts only a year. It never leaves, you just learn to live with it. The first year you are in a state of shock, the second year reality really hits, so it's a long road and you will need support. My prayers are with you all and don't be afraid to cry or be sad, you need to experience your grief in order to get through it. May I suggest any grief book by Alan D. Wolfelt. I read almost all of them while lying in bed crying for the first three months. It helps you understand your grief and brings comfort.
