Yup. I was in 2nd grade when the Dare campaign started. A kid in my class asked about alcohol and the teacher said it was ok because it was legal. Another asked about pain killers her dad gets from the doctor. Those were ok, too, because they came from a doctor. The Dare thing scared the hell out of me so I never did any drugs til a couple of years ago (I was 46 when I smoked weed for the first time), but I drank heavily from when I was 13 til about 40 when my body just couldn't handle getting drunk anymore. If Dare had said alcohol was as bad as drugs, I would never had touched it, or at least gotten so heavily involved with it.

She had a roommate who was mixed up with meth, and she appears to show physical symptoms of meth use. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A bong in and of itself is not drug paraphernalia any more than a spoon or aluminum foil is; it can be used for hookah or tobacco which are legal. This means they found evidence that she was using something other than marijuana. She’s not being completely transparent and pled no contest to the charge.

So diabetes medications are AIMED to help you lose weight because fat increases insulin resistance so by losing weight you can help utilize insulin stores within the body (if he was a type 2 diabetic, in particular). 60 lbs within 2 months is certainly a drastic change from baseline but was he having any other symptoms then? Was he also depressed or have any other concomitant health issues? Was he also exercising and changing his diet? Those are also important questions to ask. Sure, marijuana can help stimulate appetite but it moderate amounts. There's still a lot we do not know about marijuana (including the bad). A healthy lifestyle is the best way to go about with things, everything in moderation.

My mom sees weed as an evil drug and even a gateway drug, but it’s far from that… I mainly only use it when I’m in pain or nauseous, I prefer edibles. She will get unreasonably mad. She literally thinks it makes you a lazy human, but it’s far from that, since I was 11, I went thru trauma and resulted in my motivation and even creativity to be crushed, once I started using edibles, I felt both my motivation and creativity immediately return, I had no idea what relaxing felt like either. It’s helped w/ anxiety and with my autism too. Like I said, I only do it every once in a while, but it’s only benefited me. Nah, it definitely contributes to laziness. Talking from personal experience. I'm all for legalising it but it's not the miracle plant that everyone claims it to be. It IS addictive and physically so which is also coming from personal experience it just simply has a low toxicity compared to other substances. I haven't touched the stuff in just under a month and I'm functional again, able to routinely do housework and commit to my social life more. I'm on a waiting list to get diagnosed with autism, too. Not to mention that there are very few studies regarding long-term effects of cannabis use, only short-term studies on its benefits and if you want to learn more about that look up Dr. Anna Lembke who is a researcher that has published books on the subject.

@@kadejamckinzie3 I've been around weed my entire life and it does make people lazy. If you're arrogant enough to tell me that what I've witnessed with my own 2 eyes didn't happen then that's your problem. I don't smoke anymore and it can stay far away from me. I apologise if that upsets you. Also, sugar and caffeine are VERY addictive so you're essentially admitting that weed is also by stating it's "not addictive any more" than them. The obesity increases in the US and Europe are due to sugar being put into everything and making people addicted. I know someone who has smoked for more than a decade and even has it on prescription now yet his anxiety isn't improving. Why? @@JtothePrez If the people around you were lazy under the influence that is because they were lazy to begin with. Blaming a plant for your shortcomings is absurd. Also I had crippling anxiety and depression. I tried counseling, therapy, self help apps you name it. This plant that you think is so evil helped with CBD alone. Yes it does not cure anxiety or depression but guess what NOTHING WILL. It’s something you will battle for the rest of your life but there are things you can do to help. For me that was the use of this plant. Now I don’t need to be medicated at all times to keep me from offing myself. I’m pregnant now and I don’t smoke at all and guess what, still functioning. When I was medicated I was a zombie with it and couldn’t function without it. You can’t generalize the plant itself based on the shortcomings of those around you. Those people had personal things they needed to work on. Lastly I brought up caffeine and sugar not to say they are healthy or non addictive at all but to bring up the point that if you become addicted that’s because you have a dependency issue. Not because of the plant. It was also to bring up the fact that the war against this plant is not because it causes harm. It’s because the American government can’t figure out how to get enough of the profits to be satisfied nor is it able to completely control its creation and distribution.

As someone who both smokes weed AND had a parent who abused alcohol…just be careful. There are probably people who use it responsibly and can still be present to their kids. There are definitely also people who smoke to numb out and as a result may not really be fully present for their kids. Honestly if I do have kids one day I plan to significantly cut down my usage. I’d weed as “dangerous” as alcohol and other drugs? Probably not, no. But it can be behaviorally addictive and it’s absolutely possible to use it irresponsibly.

I live in Kansas. I was accused of molesting my children by their mother. She absconded with them and when she turned herself in, the state put them in foster care instead of giving them back to me. Their mother committed multiple felonies and the state just took her word for it. I was put through what’s called a child in need of care case and it was very very difficult to get my kids back. I had to take mental health assessments, drug and alcohol assessments, go to therapy, follow all of these rules and do all of these programs. I had to move out of my own house so my parents could move in to my house traveling all the way from Minnesota so my kids could come home and get out of foster care. I was not allowed contact with my kids for months. All over an allegation. An allegation that my local police department had already investigated. I’ve had many protection from abuse orders filed on me and all have been unsubstantiated by dcf, and yet, they still took my kids away and I still get dcf showing up at my house on the regular for false accusations made against me. Go KANSAS!

My father was molesting me. I told my alcoholic mother and she did nothing so I told police. She quickly convinced them that I was lying about my dad. His lie detector test was inclusive & my mother sent me to Charter mental hospital for 2 months & then drove me to every therapy appointment once I was out with a glass of vodka in one hand. She would regularly back me into a corner of the house literally begging me to hit her so she could call the cops and have me taken away. She bruised like a peach & if I bruised her while breaking out of that corner she called them. She reported me a runaway half the times I took our dog for a walk. I went to jdc for tipping over a little end table & breaking nothing cuz she reported that I threw the table at her & she was afraid for her life. From jdc I spent another few months in the psych ward at smmc. My mom had everyone convinced I only made up that my dad molested me in order to ruin her life. I left the minute I turned 18. Oh yeah Kansas is great at protecting children. Joco is the worst at being ridiculously punishing no matter what. More court for us means more money for them.

My daughter almost killed herself- got sectioned by my fucked up sibling who started these accusations in the first place when my daughter finally was brave enough to speak out. Sectioned on Christmas for speaking out then dcf altered all the records to take their illegal and unethical actions out- but left in the lies and omitted evidence that would have exonerated me. @somewhereupthere785 I grew up with hardcore addicts in my family also. I come to realize and I'm not young woman. The substance isn't the addict the person is. Many people in this world can use recreational drugs with control. I would take a pot smoker over an Alcoholic anyday. I would trust my children with somebody who has smoked a joint over somebody who has sat down and drank beer spirits or wine. I understand where fear comes from in that situation. I think it is very important to teach your children control, Because at the end of the day, no matter where you go, there you are. I've also realized that trying to control the people around you drives them away from you.

I live in Olathe, just across the MO/KS border. As soon as recreational cannabis became legal in MO, the KS Highway Patrol put up billboards about doubling-down and increasing cannabis-related arrests. Not surprised the KS system has taken it way over-the-top. KS Republican legislators repeatedly kill cannabis legalization bills.

I wish they would just legalize pot so they could focus on all the meth here in Joco. Did you hear they are gentrifying the west bottoms now? They're demolishing the wheel weld building at 933 mulberry. It's full of awesome graffiti, be nice to get pictures. It could have been saved, but they're building an apartment complex.

The minimum wage in Kansas is 7.25 per hour. My neighbor lived in Kansas for who knows how long. Supposedly, he OD on a drug, Kansas CPS lets him keep his kid.

it sucks how much more harm is done to these kids by the the government itself choosing to take them away, compared to the little/no harm done by their parents smoking weed. CPS's goal is to save kids from horrible lives and to help give them better lives. This isn't it.

Seeing that mini clip of that kid screaming makes me think CPS does more harm than good .taking kids away from good parents. That could be traumatizing for a kid who doesn't understand why he's being taken away.

Ok. Like a decade ago I called cps on my neighbor (felt guilty as hell and still do). My neighbor would leave her house at midnight every night and come home at 2am w a minivan full of stolen property (she was robbing vacation homes). CPS got involved b/c I would come home and they would leave their child outside for hours at a time in snowstorms w no jacket!! Even then CPS investigation took over a month. These people…

This is a disgrace. Coming from a cannabis user and a Kansas native, the laws have only hurt the people of this state and all the others who have used weed in the past. This is a medicine. A plant that should be recreationally legal.

Def alcohol, I’ve seen, first hand, what alcoholism can do to a person. It’s ruined my father and killed my uncle. Weed has done nothing but benefited each user. It’s even considered medicinal. The most weed can do is cause you to green out, but once your over that, you’re fine. I mean, there’s alcohol poisoning. 🤷‍♀️

I went to college in Hays and grew up near Garden City. Thank you for shinning light on the Kansas foster care system which is horribly managed. But showing the world that a joint will derail your whole live in seconds with or without children. Maybe this will put pressure on Kansans to just decriminalize marijuana and eventually be joining the rest of the US.
