Yep, as soon as Vlatko was hired, we lost the 2023 World Cup. 100%.

Even though she quoted it, Christen isn't talking about the actual time. She's saying that IF the USWNT had finished top of the group, they'd have faced SAF but as they underperformed in the group, it was a "slow burn" leading up to the L16 KO.

i know she meant it that way, but i also see it as a slow burn for three years. i never really saw an improvement.

USWNT had so much talent sitting on the bench. I feel for those that didn't get a chance to experience the Cup on the pitch. Maybe a few more substitutes could have made a difference.

It was a slow burn alright. And Vlatko's hiring was the match that lit it...

She's saying that because they hadn't been good enough leading up to that moment (coming 2nd in group) they had to play in a time slot that came with a side of drama of it's own. That if the us had been up to par things would've been different from the get go

All the criticism the USWNT has taking may have tighten the team, but being bullied from their own country is so sad and must take it's toll. I know you be back and we look forward to see you in the next tournament. So glad Tobin believe in us (Sweden) in the coming game against Japan. It will be as tough as playing US. We gonna need another magical game from Zecira.

One of the things that bugs me is that if the U.S. has been on the right side of the bracket, things would be completely different. The fact that Colombia vs Jamaica was in the same round as Sweden vs the U.S. is insane.

Ashley Sanchez never saw the field. I wonder why this team lacked attacking creativity...

True but at least they could really see the potential if sweden goes on to win then I'd be really upset. If i was a player life goes on. Live and learn. Tmr is a new day

Regardless of the Vlatko situation, England v Nigeria game shows that a formidable team on a good day can take any bigger team all the way to penalties and if there's no confidence in the art of survival then it might lead to the downfall. In the years to come USWNT will have to be that weaker team that takes a stronger/better side to penalties and churn out a result in some way. It's called G.I.D. - Get it done.

Here's what I learned. The whole women's cup has a scoring problem. Look at the number of matches that had no goals. England couldn't score.. Nigeria couldn't score. Put in 15 year old boys with wigs and they'll score. The fact that England needed a PK against Haiti shows they're weakened. Fran Kirby could have helped, but she's hurt. No scoring is the issue, so Japan will most likely win. I'm rooting for them.

@@catman518 Are you trolling?? Scoring problem? On average there’s way more goals in the women’s World Cup, consistent goalless draws was actually an issue in the Men’s World Cup 😂

@@prince8153 not trolling. Pointing out a fact a coach friend of mine noticed. In the beginning, 16 matches had like no score from one side. Some games ending in ties.

@@catman518try watching the game then, instead of relaying on secondary viewings, the Women’s World Cup literally had multiple 4-0+ matches including a 4-0 win to Japan against Spain a top 10 team who then went on to beat Switzerland 5-1 in the R16, this years World Cup is just simply more competitive

@@catman518Before, critics of women's football ( and I used to be amongst them) used to say that it cannot bbe taken seriously because the goal margins were to wide (ie too many goals)! The truth is that there is no scoring problem; rather, women's football in general has gotten better, the disparity between weaker and stronger teams has somewhat levelled up ; this expains why you don't see England beating Haïti 4 - 0 or France beating Jamaica 6 -0! From time to time you have those wide margins (US-Thailand 4 -0 for instance) but they are not the as widepread as they were a few years ago. Did you watch the 2010 men's Cup? Spain won the Cup but the greatest goal margin by which they won a match was two goals (against Honduras), after having lost their first match to the Swiss.

Testify sista... You're right about that. I'm glad you got a little emotional, because I'm upset too. I would have taken a hurt Press and go to Heath at least we would have played with heart. Here's how we lost. Vlatko was hired and messed up the Olympics. That was the red flag right there. It's been two years in the making. We were meant to lose the Cup... Why? FIFA. They didn't want a three peat. They didn't want equal pay for others. They want a new champion which will drive revenue for them. They don't care if our players were hurt. Who gives Rose Lavelle 2 yellow cards? We were meant to lose. And I'm sickened by it.
