I think that maybe the lottery ticket seller knew Hurley was the winner because Hurley always played the same numbers, THE NUMBERS, every week. So, when he saw the winning numbers he recognized them as the numbers that Hurley plays every week. Keep up the good work.

I think Hurley meant that there's no way that amount of food is going to last any time at all (with so many survivors) so there's little point in even trying to ration it out. Another great reaction...thanks guys, loving the journey ❤

As for recognizing Hugo/Hurley, it's possible that the Lottery would have known the time when the ticket was sold. All that the manager or owner of the store would need is security camera footage. He would then notice Hugo "Hurley" Reyes from those videos and then recognize him when he drove up.

My theory about how that guy selling the tickets knew Hurley is the winner: They usually use special machines connected to the main system to play the lottery and the date and time of the winning ticket played can be seen in the system. If the store has a security cam, that man might have checked who was the customer at the specific time buying a lottery ticket and considering Hurley is a regular there, he will be easy to recognize from the security cam footage. I think this is the most plausible way unless something really different going on in USA lotteries. P.S: I didn't make this theory up after you've asked the question. I'm such a LOST nerd I've been thinking these kind of things since I've seen the show for the 1st time and that question bothered me too at my 1st watch.

A lot of people think if they won the lottery their lives will be amazing after, but there are lots of stories of people having tragic lives after winning big money. We had a popular show in the U.S. called "The Lottery Ruined My LIfe" that shared stories of how winning large amounts of money can cause trouble for people (for many reasons). Like everyone in your life wanting money off of you...distant relatives coming out of nowhere with sob stories wanting money, friends & family being jealous, lottery winners getting murdered for their new-found wealth. That's why in the U.S., most people hide their identity when turning in their winning tickets b/c the media will be there filming, and they don't want people knowing they now have money. (obviously there's more to the story for Hurley, like the bad luck part)

I love this episode. While LOST is known for it's wild cliffhanger endings, I think this shows that they don't always need to do that. The ending to this episode is one of the most beautiful 🥲

Rose and Bernard will never fail to make me cry! And if Gabi lost hope about relationship because of Rose: she's right, they are perfect, but I guess that can only happen on the island, so for all of us there's still hope XD

I feel like Hurley's just afraid they'll all start acting stupid over all that stuff. He's not afraid of change in general. He's learned how greed can ruin relationships. And he's right. The people around you change when you either gain alot of money, or lose alot of money. Or material things. In my experience, it was everybody. Both when I had it, then when I didn't.
