Here in Portland, we’ve had an annual holiday night at an indie movie theater where we air the Star Wars Xmas special. The guy who recorded it on VHS and released it to the public shows up, and it’s a whole thing. We had a QnA session afterward and it was one of the first really cool experiences that got me interested in lost/found media!

I thought people were joking when they talked about how bad it was, but me and my mom watched it this last Christmas (to my grandmother's disdain. She's a huge Star Wars buff- saw A New Hope in theaters over 30 times during it's original run- and watched the special live back in the 70s.) But no. It's seriously that bad. Holy shit.

Edit: Star Wars City is on KZfaq: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r5yjl8d5y8rTYKs.html I believe the "Star Wars City" documentary was part of the german TV show "Bilder aus der Wissenschaft", which ran from 1973 - 1993. This show featured films from Hans Lechleitner, as can be seen here: www.fernseh serien.d e/bilder-aus-der-wissenschaft/cast-crew I also found proof that Lechleitner talked a lot about nuclear weapons on this show, as we can see from a German news article from 1983: www.spie gel.d e/politik/bombe-am-nachmittag-a-a5c52020-0002-0001-0000-000014020125?context=issue As the German state TV "ARD", which ran this show, has an extensive archive, someone probably just needs to ask for a copy from them!

The missing scenes for Star Wars have a new appreciation since they give background on Luke, like discussing the socio-political situation and general lore with Biggs. I took me many views and I still didn't get WTF is Luke doing and what is his life outside of droids BEFORE finding the lost version in fan-made edit. The aunt was mentioning friends but we didn't see them until later... and Wedge with Biggs are legendary but GOOD LUCK noticing them in theatrical cut.

No mention of "Alien Exodus"? It was a proposed EU novel trilogy from the 90's that would have revealed how humans wound up in the Star Wars Galaxy and tied their origin to George Lucas' THX-1138 movie. I remember something about Revenge of The Sith, but only on theaters: Darth Vader's voice was different on the theatrical version compared to the DVD/blu-ray/Disney+ version, specially on the "yes, master" part. It was more deep and with an creepy echo. This version is listenable on the trailer from 2004/2005, so is kinda Lost Media, considering that this scene was completely with this version of his voice in the theatrical version.

another great idea would be lost media mobile games! there’s one lost game in particular that i’ve seen very few people talk about, and that is No More Heroes: World Ranker. it released around the release of the second game in the No More Heroes series, and was a Japan exclusive mobile game loosely based on the first two games, where players could make their own player avatar i believe. It was delisted years ago, and unfortunately all the video of it i can find is an old japanese trailer, and some uploads of in-game sound effects and a song remix. i would love to see more gameplay one day and hopefully if more people know about it we might be able to find an old working version, similar to the Hatsune Miku Dominos app that was somewhat lost until recently!

I like Quinton Reviews' explanation of why Detours didn't come out potentially. It might have been the first thing Disney would have published (tv/movie wise) after they bought Star Wars. Could you imagine the fan outcry if the first thing Disney showed to the public dealing with Star Wars was a weird comedy that made fun of Star Wars? Of course you would have many rational fans who would recognize that this was in production long before Disney got involved but many other fans still would blame Disney without the wider context of the production of the project. Doesn't necessarily justifies hiding the project away for this long but at least makes more sense to me that Disney just didn't want to deal with any potential controversy from this show.

There was no cut scene with Palpatine using Anakin’s saber in ROTS. Palpatine’s saber had not been designed when the fight scene was shot, so the entire scene was shot with Palpatine using Anakin Stunt Saber B (the one with soft grips). A bladed stunt version of Palpatine’s saber was never made- only the “hero” prop used for insert shots.

One that I would have liked to have seen was the 80s 'Clone Wars' cartoon. This was developed by Kenner and would have been made by Nelvana, as with 'Star Wars:Droids'. Toys were designed but Lucas pulled the plug after Droids was a flop. However there was some artwork in the magazines. In the UK we got a slightly different version of 'Empire Strikes Back' when it was shown on TV with extra footage of Luke's hallucination in the cave, and a scene of Boba Fett with his command station/weapons locker. I think this latter scene was because Kenner had made the toy before it was cut so they put it back in when they dumped the toys on the UK market. This version isn't lost as plenty of people recorded it on VHS and there are some on KZfaq.
