Pretty cool! I’m really fascinated by lost foam casting especially now that I know you can CNC cut the foam

Nice work MAD. Not sure if you prefer to cast the crankcase open/split in two pieces but it should be easily done as an enclosed 1-piece casting. Just introduce any other openings for the crankshaft and the sand should be adequately supported. Also a tire pump will not provide enough flow to attain vacuum. A shop-vac motor woul dbe much better but I dont think you need vacuum for this part. Buy a vacuum gage that reads in mm Hg and you will see. A longer sprue will provide addition/sufficient metal pressure if needed. Keep up the good work. Best, Kelly

Great video. Sand casting is indeed a "black art". I found a temperature probe useful in getting the aluminum melt to exactly 1200 degrees F. for pouring. Also there are some problems when you have a large diameter intersecting with a smaller diameter or thinner part in the pattern, since they cool at different rates. This often causes shrinkage near the intersection of the large and small parts. Fillets in the pattern, help as well as matching the part sizes.

Hello. You are using pouring cup, but you pour is too slow. You must fill it fully, and then only maintain it half full level. If done like this - you will have minimum flame, and you metal will be free of woids. And copy my pouring and lifting tongs. You have that moment of touching pouring handle...

Mad, Stanislav is right in that you need to pour faster - keep that pouring basin full. But do NOT copy his pouring and lifting tongs they are the most (crazy 😱) awkward I have ever seen. The lifting tongs and the pouring shank you have now are the best, simplest, and easiest to use there is... Martin
