🇧🇾 I wanted to take you on a journey with me in this episode to a village in rural Belarus. So I headed to Gomel and from there took an early morning bus out into the windswept provinces to see what life is like in a Belarus village. Hope you like bleak landscapes and Ladas.
Attention! Don't forget to check out my book: The Burning Edge by Arthur Chichester ( available on all Amazon sites ). Full of crazy tales from Belarus. You'll love it!

Yeah, people living in some of the worst poverty in a developing world probably think it's super "relaxing". I have multiple friends in Russia and from Russia and it's awful there, they rather want to get our or never return now that they are out. Massive civil rights violations, disgusting and abhorrent infrastructure, drug problems, domestic abuse problems, alcoholism, etc. By taking some sort of weird "relaxing" pleasure in seeing the legitimate downtrodden in a country that DESERVES to be rich, you are basically what you hate, a disgusting part of the modern, Western world. Fuck off.

Loving these Belarus(sian?) vlogs man, find these post Soviet places facinating. I know the Indian stuff gets you the views but this and the Myanmar series have been real eye openers, you get to some really raw places that I just don't see on other channels...and you have a bit of banter and meet a few babushkas on the way! All the best from a fellow Brightonian

Hey...Glad you're enjoying the Belarus stuff. It has been fun taking the channel in a new direction for a while even though as you say there has been a drop off on views. I'll be doing a lot of Soviet vlogs over the summer after a quick adventure in the US if everything works out so stay tuned for some off the neaten track places. Cheers

My father comes from Belarus and we used to visit our relatives there every year. Since Corona and the fact that my passport would have to be renewed if I went there again, I‘ll probably won’t go their for a long time. It‘s nice to see that someone actually is interested in this country. By my experience it is actually as grey and dilapidated as shown, which isn’t supposedly bad, just sad. My grandma is the typical Babuschka. She lives by her own in an old colourful wood house, in a small village with not even 50 residents. The living standards are very low but you can "survive" as a German, who is used to a comfortable and easy way of living. I wish this country for the future all the best and that it has the strength to escape the old system. I truly enjoyed the video. Greetings from Dresden :)

Blue paint is very common on older buildings in this area of Europe. That blue pigment came from a plant named woad, which apparently originated in Russia and spread all over Europe. It gives a permanent indigo dye and was easily available, unlike indigo which came from warmer climates and was expensive for a long time.
