I remember watching "Lost in Space" in 1970 when I was 6 years old. My favorite character back then was Dr. Zackary Smith, but then he ruined the chance of going back to earth. Zachary's screams always stress me out. I guess I was yelling out loud, "What is wrong with you?" or something like that. Now that I think about it, I noticed my mom was always standing next to me to see what on Earth I was watching on TV. They were all good actors; there will never be another Dr Zackary Smith. Today, when I watched "Lost in Space," I laughed without all the stress and drama I experienced as a 6-year-old to 9-year-old. Let's face it, Dr Zachary Smith sure had a vocabulary.

This is probably my favorite episode! Don neutralizing Smith, (at this point, it should have been realized he had to go away! (Maybe Will could just send him to the cornfield)!! Anyway, the crash Landing sequence was hands down the most exciting and impressive scenes in the entire series! Also the introduction of the Chariot! (Still wanted to see how they got it out and assembled it so quickly)! Especially since the lower level was buried in the sand! The electric pit and sagebrush was pretty cool too. Shame they just abandoned all these anomalies after these episodes and never saw it again! Another thing, Smith wanted to abandon John and head get to Earth. How would this plan work? Since they are lost and have no idea how to find Earth? Also, later on in season one, the robot states he has a “prime directive” not to kill humans, yet Smith tries to make him an assassin! Well, that’s just Lost in Space!

Murphy always strikes in shows like these. 🙂

I could see Will being a great explorer as an adult. He's open minded and tries to keep the peace whenever possible. Even if he's a little naive.

There is a bit of science they actually do a good job with. When the robot gives the atmosphere readings, he says 22 psi(compared to 14 on Earth), and then gives oxygen percentage as 15%. When it comes to breathing, it's the "partial pressure" for oxygen that matters. 21% at 14 psi gives a partial pressure of 3 psi, while 15% at 22 psi gives 3.3 psi for the partial pressure, so kudos for that.

In a short time in the series, West goes from strangling Smith to stating, "We need all hands. I'll get Dr. Smith."

You figure that why didnt John used the Space Pod to go down to the planet instead of using a jet Fuel pack ? I guess the Space pod was damaged and it took 3 years to fix the Space pod . In reality just like in the Star Trek ep The Enemy Within when you asked :Why did they not send the Shuttle craft to rescue Sulu from Freezing to death when the Transporter was not working ? Because the Shuttle craft was not written into Star Trek yet just like the Space Pod that was not written until the 3rd season of Lost in Space .

When the Jupiter II went into tilt mode and the Robinsons fell about the ship, Irwin Allen was on hand to bang on a tin pail to cue them when to throw their bodies in whatever direction.

Regarding the cast slinging themselves around the cabin, June Lockhart also added that Irwin Allen with Stan there with a tin can and pointed in different directions conducting the orchestration of their fling themselves. Regarding Debbie, I never understood why they added that to the show as a matter of fact, she ended up biting Angela Cartwright very severely, forget what season it was I think it was the second season and then they had Debbie’s teeth all pulled out of her mouth talk about animal cruelty. Lastly, and on a much more positive note the day after tomorrow and June 25, June Lockhart turns 99 years old ! I hope her quality of life is good and that she can live on and maybe even set a record. Peace.

Too bad they never revisited the putting Smith in the freezing tube solution .They could have fixed the Jupiter w/o Smiths buggery and made it to Alpha Centauri.Then when they get there ban Smith to the other side of the planet of their Alpha Centauri destination

People don't realize that Debbie hated Penny and wanted her dead. This was why Debbie would run off at the most dangerous moments so that Penny would chase after her. In Debbie's language, "Bloop" means "Die Earth Girl, Die!"

Smith wanting to return to Earth was always humourous in a way. What does he think will happen if they return to Earth and his actions are revealed?😮

I can explain away at least 95% of all the noted discrepancies in the series. In the case of wondering if the robot had been checking on Smith's safety every hour, when Will had given it fake orders, it assumed that was Smith and that Smith was therefore safe for that hour. So at least SEVERAL hours could have passed by the time they saw the latest safety check. In another episode wh e re they apparently had extraneous stuff even after they supposedly threw anything extraneous out, i would say if they had tech like phasers/lasers and other tech that could wash and fold clothes in mere seconds, then just maybe they could create them (and other things) as well.

When Dr Smith tried to force the Robinsons to head to Earth and abandon John, Don should have left Smith in the Freeze chamber permantly

You neglected to include more of one of the greatest practical effect sequences in episodic TV history, i.e., the crash landing. For shame, sir!!! Oh, well.

Damn it I hate they have this guy speaking at moments when the action is happening. He's a good narrator but they interrupt parts of the show when the action is happening.
