Funny depiction of how Missionaries need to be careful in choosing their words when speaking through a translator.

Oh my! I had to pause midway through to catch my breath from laughing. As someone who's seen (and been part of) plenty of cultural and language misunderstandings, I can relate! A much needed lesson is in this video!

A wonderful message in a very humourous way.

Reminds me of some missionaries who had been in Mexico for many years, then moved to Spain. They used the Mexican dialect for church service, "Servicio," only to learn that that meant toilet in Spaniard Spanish.

One "international evangelist" who visited Taiwan many years back spent nearly 10 minutes trying to expain the necessity of the rules of croquet to his translater duirng his presentation so that he could make a point. If he'd chosen basketball or baseball, the translator and the audience would have gotten it immeditaely. Know your audience and their cluture!

Well, if you don't speak the local language, don't use complicate sentences.

I wonder if this is what Ernest Angely's interpreter sounds like?

да, хорошие клоуны, прежде чем, ехать миссионером нужно выучить язык того народа, которому собираешься проповедовать. по крайней мере, кто к нам приезжал англоговорящие, то они не сыпали идиомами.
