Too bad Miles didn't say anything. But then I think the showrunners made it up as they went along. Wait! The time jumps ended when Locke fixed the donkey wheel, three years in the future, just days after the Ajira plane landed. That's as far in the future as they went. Once Juliet set off the bomb, they went ahead of that (by maybe a day?) and buried her. So I think they never went to a future where she was already buried. Of course the whole time-travel adventure made the show mostly pointless as they had no free will from the earliest time they jumped to until the latest point in time. So when they went to ancient times and left the rope in the ground, everything that happened was meant to happen. "Saving the world" probably meant keeping a causality where the candidates were summoned to the island and the Swan crashed their plane.

@@kbanghart I think he means the whispers they hear in the beginning are actually coming from themselves in the time travel episodes.

@@xPulsex30 themselves? From what I've heard from other fans, they are from others who have died on the island. Like Michael who appeared in front of Hurley and that's how he explained it.

The whispers were originally intended to be the others as the early seasons wanted to make them mystical and appear supernatural. Then in later seasons they changed it to mean the souls of people unable to move on. Because of that change the whispers became interpreted for the rest of the show as warning the survivors that danger is approaching which is the explanation for why they seem to surround the others.

1:57 i would find this guy so ridiculous no matter what research he had done. They’re on a magical island that started time-jumping through space and he’s telling them not to even bother trying to save their friends, like he’s been through this before and is 100% certain it’s impossible, when it’s just a theory that’s never been tested

It has been tested. In the deleted scenes or missing pieces, it shows chang performing time travel experiments with rabbits. They also used polar bears to turn the donkey wheel. Daniel says he's been studying the dharma initiative for a long time and knows how time travel works.
