"Why bats, Mr Wayne?" "Bats frighten me, Alfred. It's time my enemies share my dread." If Peter is squeamish about bugs, it makes sense that he's going to have THAT FREAKING BUG SCENE in King Kong. Because there was a scene like that in the original print of the very first Kong movie in 1933. Which later got cut because too many people literally lost their dinner and/or walked out of the theater. I mean - to OUR sensibilities that 30s spider scene is NOTHING. But Peter Jackson saw it, and... well - I imagine it went rather like the line above from Batman Begins. I also imagine it was a "Hold my beer, I'm gonna do what's known as a pro film maker move here."

Ah Wetas, if you've lived in NZ you probably have a Weta story. My Nana woke with one in her hair once. My Dad tells a story about when he was taking a shower and reached up to grab the soap (this shower had beams above it oddly enough) and he grabbed a weta. Being surprised by these buggers is a family trend.
