Wow, such a good video. Not just for the Guardian, but I think I also learned more about the game in general than all other videos I watched combined. Thanks for this very effective and very thorough breakdown!

Interesting take on ‘break ranks’. Most guides I read don’t trait into it, definitely cool to hear a different perspective. Nice vid 👍👍

Break ranks used to be a buff to just the guardian's damage at the expense of mitigations (fortification stacks) which was pretty bad, but now it's a raid-wide damage buff with 25% uptime which makes it super good. So older guides would ignore it but newer guides as of U28 should definitely say to trait/use it.

Its a nice build but I feel going so deep into yellow means while you get to spam redirect you really give up a lot from blue and red. Red infact has many good things, while its not a guardians job exactly todo damage, you can feel the difference in aggro and clear speed between a guardian who is doing 20-30% more damage to one who is not. Guardians do have very good aoes and do spend the longest in combat, since they go in first so there damage should not be ignored outright.

I'm not sure if Break Ranks have very wide application, only niche function maybe. It is suicide on some raids when you are solo tanking or even off tanking and receiving huge tactical hits from dots or etc, to drop your fortification to give others damage boost. Only on some situations like Ad Boss 2 phase 1 when you are tiering down as an off-tank, it would be wise to combine Break Ranks with other buffs like OB to give dps boost.

There's definitely times where you want to hold on to fort stacks, but I wouldn't call break ranks niche. Honestly, I use it nearly off cd in many fights like AD and FoKD. Even in fights like shelob you can use it every topple and for double weavers. It just takes learning some of the boss mechanics to know when you can/should use break ranks and if you need to use a defensive CD at the same time to compensate for the temporarily lowered defenses. Anyways, if you use shield spikes you'll typically build the fortification stacks back up in about 10-15 seconds or quicker.

40:20 Do I copy and multiply my own aggro (from my damage), if I'm the one, who damages target, and then using forced taunt? Also, If i'm already first on aggro list of monster. I'm the target, and I hold aggro, but someone is 2nd and made plenty of damage - whose aggro do I copy and multiply with forced taunt in that case? Do I even copy that aggro? Thanks in advance

when AOE'ing with sword and board are you traiting down the Red line? I always liked the idea of sword and board in the Red tree.

Yellow has more aoe than red even with flash of light nerf.

why not lower the chat or turn it off when you start recording instead of having to black it out (it takes a huge portion of the video)

I needed to see chat for discord people that couldn't speak, but I cover chat in OBS for streaming/recording in case something pops up that isn't youtube-friendly
