I gather from these comments that none of you are aware that the trumpet THROUGHOUT THIS SONG is played by none other than jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie! Hence Louie's exhortation at the intro for us to: "GET DIZZY!!" Yes. Dizzy contributed to this song, and the old soul-man spoken asides are the Diz as well! But from what I've heard, he was too ill to appear in the video when it came time to shoot it. He also contributed to Quincy Jones' landmark album "Back on the Block" in 1989. These were his last two recorded performances. He died in 1993.

It's times like this that I really love the internet. An old song suddenly pops into your head but all you can remember is the chorus. But in ten seconds... And I don't even need to dig out the cassette to listen to it ... Cassettes were amazing. I wonder if they'll be fashionable again like vinyl.

You say, "I gather from these comments that none of you are aware that the trumpet is played by none other than Dizzy Gillespie!" Why do you "gather" that? It's bad logic. You might as well say on a sunny day at a park, "I 'gather' that none of you is aware the sun is out, based on your not mentioning it yet."
@amazon4887 жыл бұрын
Yes...I am aware that Dizzy played trumpet on the song. I own every record that Louis Edmond Cordero put out and to this day, I try to keep track of his career. Getting Dizzy to play on his debut CD was amazing for Louie Louie.

In 1990 I saw him perform at Riverside Park in Agawam Ma, along with Timmy T and Alicia. He was so down to earth. After the show, he and his bandmates walked around the park and went on rides. My friend and I caught up with him and got his autograph. He was such a nice guy. Didn't act like a celebrity at all. Just a normal guy. I'll never forget that. Think I still have the autograph somewhere.........

Great song a big top 40 hit for Louie Louie when he was with WTG Sony Music, a great vocalist and an extremely talented great music artist. He is a real music artist that makes real music. He should gave made more dance pop songs and a few more r&b love ballads, he would have had a longer more successful career singing Freestyle dance pop music like Dino, Stevie B, Coro, George LaMond, TKA, Daize, Spanish Fly and even Frankie J and Marc Anthony were doing it at the time, Louie Louie was on the dance pop and top 40 radio stations as those artists but the Freestyle music movement would have kept him touring and making money in the music game to this day and if he was not going to do Freestyle then he should have had a couple of Spanish albums like Barrio Boyzz and Nu Flavor and Ricky Martin, in music you always need a stable money making genre to fall back on if your music stops making the big bucks it was making before, he is such a great artist that he should record new music as Louie Louie that is a hot stage name and not Louie Cordero that is his not so catchy government name. He had a fan base as Louie Louie and a lot of people did not know it was him when he came back as Louie Cordero. I saw him on TV performing at the Miss Universe pageant on national TV and the TV news people said he was working on a new album but that has been almost 10 years now and no new album yet. I am still hoping.
@amazon4887 жыл бұрын
What year did he perform on Miss Universe? I wet to Wikipedia and looked up info about every performer from the past years nd I saw no info about him? Yes, he is extremely talented and I always wondered about his choice to sing in Spanish on his third CD and go with his real name? About three years ago on his Facebook page facebook.com/louielouie.cordero, he mentioned something about working on new CD. whenever he does release one, any info he puts on his page might break the Internet because SO many fans want to know what's up with him.
