@MANIK he is, which is why he was asked for consent. If he ever once used force, threats, drugs, intimidation, or even just 'surprise' (like a flasher) to take advantage of women, then I would not be defending him. Even Sarah Silverman who explained this and that he was harmless. I think people find him visually gross or find the whole idea disgusting and want him burned at the stake for that reason, but every human being, even ones you don't like have a sex drive. It's a basic human need. The whole scenario would require a psychiatrists explanation to really know, but either it's a kink for him to have someone watching, or maybe he just had low enough self esteem that he feels like no one would want him, so he should just ask another consenting adult to just see it. It's probably some combination. Either way, nothing hurtful or illegal happened. I know people hate that but that's the facts, and if it turns out I'm wrong then I'll turn on him just like everyone else. Just saying, if it was an older female actress and young male stars then everyone would call her a cougar, and I wouldn't see the harm as long as she asked for consent.

Most people are so naive about Huck Finn it's sad. Jim is the most noble character in the book very intentionally. Twain was writing an anti-racist book in an extremely racist time, and chose to do it in a way that the point would sneak under the radar of his audience.
@jacksonfrost75812 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely. Somewhere I heard Louis C.K. very eloquently explain why Huck Finn was important as an anti-racist book. Twain himself was a member of the Anti-Imperialist League, very forward thinking and smart to have written a book that could trick racist readers into feeling sympathy for Jim.
@HoldenNY222 жыл бұрын
Ray Pecki- I agree with you. Politcal Correctness can be really bad.
@zeitgeist51342 жыл бұрын
Jim is indeed the most noble character. Huck values him as a friend, despite the fact that conventional white society tells Huck that it is wrong to regard Jim a friend (i.e., an equal), that it is wrong to help Jim escape. Nobody is telling Huck that it is white society that is grievously in the wrong, so Huck, a social outcast, comes to the conclusion that he himself is fundamentally flawed. Huck must choose between "virtue", as defined by white society, or Jim...and he chooses Jim. Huck is not a racist. The climax of the book occurs when Huck, recognizing that he has offended Jim, humbles himself by asking Jim's forgiveness. At that point, Huck is acknowledging that Jim is his moral superior. Bravo, Huck.
@zeitgeist51342 жыл бұрын
@@vitamin3076 You are ignoring three important elements: One, Huck helped Jim escape. Two, when Jim talked about his distress that his wife and children had been sold away from him, Huck felt empathy for Jim. Three, Huck, ashamed of himself for offending Jim, offered a sincere, humble apology. All three elements defied conventional racist white culture of the timed place. Huck was a decent human being. Tom, however, was a manipulative narcissist, driven by self-interest.

There are different types of comedians. Louis CK is one of the great story-teller type comedians, like Bill Cosby. There's a few of them out there. I remember Bill Cosby would fill a whole side of a record album with one long comedic story. I saw Bill Cosby live many decades ago. My face and jaw were literally sore for almost 3 days from laughing so hard. These types are masters of making all the filler - between the main jokes - hilarious, just with their timing and expressions. Louis CK is a master of timing, expressions, inflections in both his voice and face and his mannerisms. Really sad that he pulled his weeny out in front of women a bit more than just when he was 8. He definitely has issues. But he's definitely also incredibly hilarious.

@Brian Reed canceled has different meanings and consequences. His show was canceled. All his specials were pulled from streaming services. He says he lost tens of millions of dollars. He can, of course, do things on his own. He can book his shows and release specials. But FX and Netflix (or HBO, etc) won't give him money anymore. Hollywood won't cast him in a movie. If this is permanent, it is still something to be determined. Call it canceled, blacklisted or banned... it's a real thing.

He knew once he saw Huck enter the picture, there would be trouble. All he has to do was insert the word "dude" or "guy" and his girls would have been none the wiser.

I wonder how many of us have those "When I was 8" stories? Just laughing along with the jokes and the memory came flooding back. Have to admit selfishly I'm glad mine doesn't nearly as bad.

@Jordan Rogers Agreement under pressure, is not agreement. It's quid pro quo and it's kind of embarrassing! It's simply people agreeing to anything if it means the difference between getting and losing a job. Haven't you ever agreed to an employment condition which came back to cause you issues later? Even something as small as agree to work nights and weekends would amount to the same thing. The thing is, even by his own admission, Louis CK held these women hostage with potential jobs and career advancement. Shit, Stormy Daniels admitted fucking a wrinkled and saggy Trump because she thought it would help get her on the Apprentice! Quid pro quo is not agreeing.

WOW, Disneyland at Anaheim California in the 1980's had Tom Sawyer island I was 10 and it was my favorites thing. Basically parents left 10ylds alone a couple hours at Disney Land. That island was ruthless.
