Mom is 75 yrs old . I visit her several times a week and the first thing she will ask is "where is Lou?" She LOVES Lou Rawls! I let her listen to his songs thru my headphones so she can hear all the instruments. The smile on her face is worth more than gold. She doesnt talk much anymore but listening to Lou has her singing and smiling. She has the headphones on right now.❤

I loved playing music for my dementia patients, especially the ones who struggled to express themselves...when a song comes on that reminds them of their glory days, the smile and peace that comes across their face is such a wonderful feeling.

I can remember being 12yrs old riding my bike with my best friend, out in the sunshine. I had a little red round radio bk in the 70's. I kept in the basket i had attached to front of my bike. I remember this song coming on and the two of us just singing, laughing and enjoying the innocence of being young and free. What great times the 70's were.

I agree with you completely because I sang many of their songs. But Stokley Williams is truly magnificent. Although he never achieved the same level of fame. Stokley in my opinion is like an evolution of Stevie Wonder. All of the songs from Mint Condition and his Introducing Stokley albums are 9's and 10's.

Yeeeears ago, I think 1985? 86? I was in Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC, and Lou came and performed for us. It was absolute _magic!_ He interacted with us, and he was close enough to touch. Such a beautiful smile... It really torqued my ass that so many of the young women in our platoon didn't know who he was, but boy howdy ~ they found out that day. 😘 What a kind, sweet man he was - an *Army veteran himself - to volunteer his time and talent to keep our spirits up and give us something to remember forever. What a voice! What a heart! What a man! And he was right...we _do_ miss his lovin'! ✨💖✨ *edited to correct statement about his US Army service: "In 1955, Rawls enlisted in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He served in B Co 2/505th Parachute Infantry and made 26 jumps. He left the Army three years later as a Sergeant." (wikipedia)

@@user-be7tc2bd6e I was mistaken that he went to war, although he _did_ enlist in the US Army during Viet Nam. He served in B Co 2/505th Parachute Infantry and made 26 jumps. He left the Army three years later as a Sergeant." (wikipedia) Twenty-six jumps! 😬 I don't think I'd be able to jump even _once!_ 😂 He did a lot of charity appearances (and other charity work) until the very end of his life, and really loved our servicemembers.

I started working in a record shop after I left school in 1965. I ordered an album for a customer and must have got the number wrong! She the order came it was Lou Rawls live! I ended up buying the album for myself as I fell in love with that voice. I was lucky enough to see him live a couple of years later.

This song is a rarity. You can dance to it, you can work out to it, and it will make you feel better after a breakup. Also, Lou Rawls' voice is immortal.

He was absolutely marvellous. We will never hear a voice so great like that again. What a voice he had. This song will never date. I remember it from when I was young, 1970's, my dad had Lou Rawls record, and he often use to play it. He use to play it loudly. We will never hear a voice like that again. All the great singers have past away. He had so much soul in his voice. This is such a great song. Rest in peace ❤️🙏💖🤩🌟🎶🎤

As a teenager, while most of my peers were going to see drunken, wasted, burned out and apathetic rock bands, I opted for R&B acts, which led me to some stellar performances - Ray Charles, James Brown, Gladys Knight & the Pips - and this man, the legendary Lou Rawls. Class act top to bottom, Lou would speak to his audience as if they were family. Loved the guy!...
