I don‘t get why so many comments are about how predictable the plot of this movie is. Honestly it‘s a romcom what do you expect lol (not the genre with the most plot twists I‘d say). Even if it would be a fresh new take on the genre, it doesn’t necessarily have to have an unpredictable storyline to be enjoyable to watch imo. I think the Trailer looks quite good or at least better than I expected so I am definitely going to check it out before judging:)
@mentaleruptionsinc.4686

I think people are referring to how much the movie revealed. Every genre has a predictable plot where we have an idea of the set up, but this specific trailer basically told the whole story and left nothing to the imagination. I'm sure it will be a good movie, but it's the trailer people are critiquing.
@kamischarougen4580

@@mentaleruptionsinc.4686 Unfortunately, movie companies check this again and again and predictable trailers sell more movie tickets. People claim "let there be some mystery" and then people don't watch movie where the lead might not get the girl. The data is so strong on this. And people claiming "I saw the movie in the trailer not watching this" are not necessary sticking to some random commitment they made somewhere weeks ago.

@@kamischarougen4580 I don't understand that consensus because the point of a trailer should be to hype up a move. @gutenmorgenjana
@gutenmorgenjana 2 жыл бұрын
@@mentaleruptionsinc.4686 That is a good point and it's definitely true that the trailer doesn't leave a lot of room for imagination, but I guess I just got the impression that "she is gonna fall for the catfish dude" or "we all know what's gonna happen, they are gonna do this and then this happens..." was more of like an assumption about the plot in general and critiquing how predictable the story is (probably) going to end, not just referring to how much was revealed in the trailer. I just watched it and it was a typical romcom movie but I really appreciate the asian cast and how they included the asian characters. It’s very rare to see white female/asian male couples in movies and the fact that they didn’t pick a typical handsome guy was very refreshing. Also, they touched a few sensitive topics about asian males and how they have a disadvantage when comes to dating so I really liked the message behind the movie. Looks are not everything and personality is just as important (although I do wish there was more chemistry between Natalie and Josh, they gave off more friends vibes than couple vibes).

Unfortunately it is what it is and I’m grateful for it considering how much prejudice and racism that still exist in this part of the world, this is a good place to start. In the East, prejudice against nerd is not so much a thing. Nerd and everything else is weighed the same. I guess it’s because the cities of the east crime rate is lower so preference is differ when it comes to desirable trait.

This starts off looking like a typical Hallmark Christmas movie-actually, it still has shades of it-but Jimmy O. Yang won me over. I may check it out.

I feel passionate that Nina Dobrev should have dated Ignat Kaneff. It would have been a reasonable interfinancial situation. Utterly Bulgarski relationship. Bulgarian Canadian matter of fact. Could have lived hedonistically betwixt Bulgaria and Canada. 😇

This seems like a pretty obvious plot of the girl falling for the guy who’s ‘trying’ to help her get a different guy trope - but hopefully it’ll come off as fun and campy instead of another basic movie
