I'm a buddhist dating the mormon woman of my dreams. I have zero issues with her beliefs, but her religion tells her she can't be with me in the long run. We have the strongest closest bond i've ever experienced. I see her as a much better partner than the woman i was married to for 10 years. I was hoping this would be a video showing how these differences could be reconciled instead of a conversion story.

I hope you can work things out with her !! There are successful interfaith marriages but it usually comprises the believers faith (you mentioned she cant marry you) you either have to move on.... or convert, or she can open her heart to marry you, you could try to convince her it's fine (overall most Christian's are allowed to marry non believers) but shes mormon so I'm not very sure. If you truly lover her try your best to make it work (:

@@lemmy6465 Unfortunately she broke up with me because her religion tells her i won't be with her in heaven, and things were getting so serious that we had to confront that. The more i learned about her religion, the more i was disgusted by it, so i knew i could never convert. I never said anything negative about her beliefs and just accepted them. But that's not enough. It hurt us really badly for a long time to break up. We got together a few times to hug and cry together to mourn the loss. It was the most painful breakup i have ever experienced. It took me a very long time to move on, but i have. Unfortunately, mormon girl is still struggling to find someone. It's really sad.

@@neptronix Look deep into the things she believes in, read the books, and pray about it. Look for the answers. Don't give up that easy. Make a list of all your questions and all your doubts. Find the answers one by one. The answers are there, but you have to be serious about finding them. Pray for discernment and understanding.

@@neptronix I feel you. I fell for a Mormon guy. Our relationship surpassed most relationships I’ve ever had. We could talk for hours and live a pretty similar lifestyle and have similar values. However, I believe in a higher power but not necessarily one particular god. He told me recently that he can’t see a future with someone who isn’t Mormon or will convert. I’ve very supportive of him and his religion. But I told him that I can’t keep dating him if he doesn’t see a future with me. I told him it’s like trying to convert a meat eater into a vegan. It can happen, but it wouldn’t be overnight. It’s sad that two very compatible people could be great for each other but religions don’t align. I know I will be fine. As painful as it is for me to move on, I care about him so much that I hope he will find the Asian Mormon woman that will treat him well because he told me that doesn’t have much luck on the LDS dating app.

Wow, this is similar to my situation now. I’m LDS dating someone in another religion as well. He’s the first man I’ve ever dated that truly has a love for God, and that’s something he didn’t have to tell me. I observed that from his actions. I admire that so much about him. He treats me like a queen, and I say that in the most respectful way possible. I’ve never dated a man like him. I’m falling in love with him and some days I worry I will be faced to choose between him and my beliefs. In my culture, (Polynesian) women are meant to follow their husbands religion. No questions asked. Anything otherwise is shameful and believed to never work. I’ve always dreamt of getting married in the Jordan River Temple. The thought of sealing my family for eternity has always been the goal. It still is. However, I feel that my path is slightly being adjusted. I don’t know what the lord has in store for me, but, I trust that, so long as I allow God to guide me, it will still be filled with so much happiness.

That's the one thing I disagreed with when I was dating this mormon girl. I didn't believe that I needed to be sealed because there is no mention of it any where in the bible. The only thing you need to do to enter heaven is confess with your mouth that your a sinner and believe Jesus died for you sins and except him as your lord and saviour and you will go to heaven. Even the thief on the cross on his last day cried out to Jesus and Jesus looked at him and said I tell you today you will be with me in paradise. He didn't have to go to a temple sealing ceremony to get to heaven.

Thank you for sharing this (even tho I'm super late on this video!) I'm in an interfaith relationship. Many videos I found are Christian-Muslim couples. But there's so much diversity within bible based religions. My church is similar to LDS and my boyfriend is Catholic. Although we share the same cultural background and basic values, our difference in spiritual thought is a sore spot in our relationship. Perhaps there's hope.. I'm curious how did you raise your kids?

As a Christian who is learning more and more about the LDS faith, I believe one day I will become a Latter-day Saint. My husband is a strong Christian who is firm in his faith. We hope to adopt a child in our future and one of the concerns I have is bringing up this child in a mixed-faith home. I may have to stay with our Pentecostal church to make my husband happy and I must admit, this thought makes me very, very sad. I pray to know what God wants me to do very often.

The only way to heaven is through Jesus christ. There is no need for any temple sealing ceremony. There is no mention of it any where in the bible that's all you need to know.

I dated a mormon girl once and even went to her church. But I broke up with her because I didn't believe in the mormons teachings and the mormon church. She knew I was a Christian and the only book I believed was written and inspired by God was the bible and not the book of mormon. And I didn't agree or believe that I needed to be sealed in a temple ceremony in order to go to heaven. The mormons are good people don't get me wrong but their beliefs contradict what the bible teaches and that's why I broke up with my girlfriend who was a mormon I prayed for her every day that she would see the light and God would open her eyes.

@@bendover4668 no it isn't as it's man made book of Mormon. The bible is the word of God completed genesis to revelation. It says in a verse never add, remove or take away scriptures. READ the bible not false doctrine, this means your life take it seriously or God will never be with you.

@@xflora-chanx Bible means "books". Revelation says that no one should add or take away from this BOOK, meaning the book of revelation. The bible wasn't compiled until hundreds of years after the BOOK of revelation was written. There are many valid arguments against mormonism, this is not one of them. As an atheist I can say the Bible has LOOOTS of inconsistencies and historical proof that it's bogus. There's a reason most mormons turn atheist when they leave their church rather than Christian. Because traditional christianity doesn't hold up to honest scrutiny. Like, not even kind of. Christians are christians because they're brainwashed from early childhood or by the community around them.

To be frank, I think it would have been better if she became Baptist. I'm Catholic myself, which is definitely not Baptist, but I find LDS teaching troubling in a way that Baptist teaching is not.

I held on for the longest time.. I tolerated allot. He treated me like trash and I held on thinking that things are actually gonna get back to the way they were at first. In the process of holding on, I was left damaged emotionally and psychologically. He treated me horribly, cos he was seeing another person yet he could have come clean and told me he no longer loved me, I kept thinking that I was doing something wrong and I hated myself for it. I was left desperate trying to fix us and he didn't really care or want me in the first place. I am still wondering what I did to him to deserve such treatment.. And at this point, in my life, I think i am done with men.. I've been hurt enough and I can't take it anymore.

This video is SO DISINGENUOUS!. While I am indeed very happy for this particular couple, and I don't criticize them at all personally, and I have to give them credit for their mutual love for each other and tolerance, traditionally in the Mormon Church marrying out of your faith is not only very frowned upon, but is extremely difficult, because of the judgmental mindset cultivated in LDS people typically towards people of other faiths. This video coming from a channel such as "LDS Living" might make it appear that Mormon culture is very tolerant of mixed faith marriages, which most of the time it is very not, or at least "very disappointing" for most Mormon members and family members. While personally I see no problem at all in a "mixed faith" marriage if the couple can actually make it work in spite of the judgment and opposition, this video seems to make it appear that Mormonism is happy with a mixed faith marriage, which traditionally Mormonism is most certainly not. This gets back to a root issue with Mormonism which generally the members themselves are very resistant to--Mormonism is inherently very dishonest. One can hardly list the many ways.
