I agree but I think they simply don't care. MM is just wired that way and either she's dragged Henry down to her level or we're seeing the real him. Maybe it's both. I just wish they'd disappear and we'd never see or hear from them again. Thank goodness our Beloved late Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh have not witnessed their continuing descent into the sewer. I don't believe for one second they have a happy marriage. How can they when it has been one (self inflicted) drama after another? I think Harry fell in lust and she mistakenly believed she would single-handledy "re-vamp" the Monarchy. That truly displays just how deluded and mentally unstable she is. I continue to pray for The King and The Princess of Wales. May they return to full health soon.

The fact the late Queen said not to use the name again is exactly why Megain used the name. She searches ways to punish those who don't give her what she wants, no matter how ridiculous the demand.

It's my most fervent wish that Her Majesty, the Late Queen Elizabeth II, had said to Hairy "Absolutely _not,_ Henry! *How **_dare_** you even **_suggest_** such a thing!?"* when the spineless wonder announced they'd stolen her pet name. If nothing else, surely his father the then Prince of Wales could've put his foot down and told him in no uncertain terms, that if they dared call the child by HMTLQ's pet name, they would be exiled to an island in the North Sea for the rest of their lives and cut off financially forever and ever amen! I was over 50 when my dear Mama died, and until her dying breath I'd have obeyed such a serious request (or demand!) from her. My children are over 40, and I am still capable of pulling 'rank' on them in certain circumstances. Two of my daughters were feuding for over 2 years - petty, girlish grievances - until I spoke to each of them and (lovingly, calmly, and very firmly) told them that the rest of the family were up to our back teeth with the cattiness and snottiness they displayed at family get togethers. Either behave like polite adults or neither of you will be invited to join us from now on. Of course I also pointed out that their children would likely be missing out on family time, as well. They stopped their silly sh!t and now, they actually call and chat with one another. All it took was a line in the sand from their Matriarch, and they soon realized how much they actually do have in common. Must admit, I didn't see _that_ coming and I take no credit for it, but I'm very grateful it's come to that! However, I did pray for a long while before I made the decision to give them the ultimatum, so I do credit the Holy Spirit with changing their hearts and minds.❤🙏✝🙏❤

It quite obviously wasn't an arranged marriage, for the simple fact that the King and the Queen Mother tried to put Elizabeth off marrying Philip, ostensibly because they felt she was too young, (although possibly also because they had reservations of their own about Philip), and when they couldn't dissuade her, they sent her on a tour abroad for 6 months to see if absence might make her forget about him. So quite obviously the only ones doing any arranging were Elizabeth and Philip themselves.

It's a blessing that the late QEII married Prince Phillip before her father passed away. The Queen truly benefited from Prince Phillip' love and support. It was a love match at every level. I think some people underestimated the important role Prince Phillip played in the success and stability of the monarch throughout QE time. I admired him. Despite his difficult upbringing, Prince Phillip never complained much about it unlike his ungrateful grandson, the Duke of Grifter! Also, Prince Phillip always respected his wife -the Queen and never tried to upstage her (which can be a very difficult thing for a man to do). Wish the Duchess of Grifter can learn from him, but she is just to narcissistic to do so!

One thing that the Queen Mum was aware of was even penniless, Phillip was Royal and both his parents were Royal. Years later in arguments Margaret often threw the insult of "You're not even royal" to her mother. In reality the Queen Mum wanted a son in law who would be deferential to her and some chinless duke's son or guards officer would be perfect in her eyes. Someone who knew their place.

The author makes comments about the hypocrisy of the RF when in 1939 they made their state visit to Washington bringing with them huge numbers of dress wear and luggage while implying the poor people of Britain were in rags. That doesn't paint them in a good light and I was so disappointed in them! It was only later when I was reading the comments someone made mention that rationing in Britain didn't start till 1940! I got as far as the door then ran back, put my arms around my dad and said “ I love you dad”. I was also a daddy’s girl - always was ‘bubby’ to my father. Prince Philip was Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. That was his title. He gave that up when he took British citizenship. Still didn’t diminish his rank. Sometimes, in private moments, you would see the queen and Philip look at each other and it was just lovely. Was he always the perfect husband, possibly not but the love never died. Hi Shauna & Thanks, very much for this one! It was a splendid treat, to arrive home to, after Mass. This has been my favorite episode, so far!! As soon as I hit, the arrow to send, I’m going to find some photos of Fergie’s wedding gown. I can visualize Diana’s, Catherine’s & MM’s. I remember the mornings I watched all 4 weddings. The only word that comes to mind about Fergie’s is sleeves. And, I’ve no idea if that’s relevant. For me, Fergie is, slowly, becoming an enigma!! That surprises me! Thanks again, Shauna! OH ~ Because we’re racing thru this month…I have a…thing😁 If April showers, bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? ………….………………………………….,,….,……………….. Pilgrims

Did Phillip propose or did they just discuss marriage! There is a difference, in that there is less of an anticipated great proposal moment. She and he would have had no doubts that, when the appropriate time came, the proposal would be accepted. No big surprise, just a shared, really romantic and fun, moment.

I think in one of the documentary that philip proposed 20 years old Elizabeth in Balmoral castle in 1946 and king reluctantly said yes and told them to keep their Engagement secret until Elizabeth turn 21. One of the documentary also say that though at 1st King George VI and his mother Queen Mary were sure about Philip but after wedding philip had won them over.

Nylon stockings were the most desirable after the war because they were not available to everyone. They could only be bought on the black market, so they were expensive. There was even a new profession in my country (Poland)-there were ladies who repaired nylon stockings professionally, because these were not available.

HRH is in the gift of the monarch (it's not a birthright although it is given to the children of monarchs, it can also be taken away). My understanding is Philip would have been HRH as a Greek Prince so I don't know what the fuss was either. It is significant as rank within the family so I imagine some had their noses put out of joint. One of the things us commoners will never understand 🧐 thank goodness!
@fibanocci314
@fibanocci314 Ай бұрын
Would he have had the HRH from a foreign country whose monarchy had dissolved and his branch of the family particularly exiled? I can at least see the argument for why he doesn't "deserve" it, though I suspect it was actually much more influenced by the Queen Mother's personal issues and by advisors' problems with his Nazi connections. Poor dear Philip.

@tomh3599

@@fibanocci314 I agree the family Nazi connections would have been a serious issue at the time and understandably so. I think most deposed royal houses carry on using their titles even after their own country no longer recognises them. I imagine there were protocol issues since a male consort can't be a King, not 'even' being HRH would rank him too low down the list. I was never a fan of Philip's, but at least he never pretended to be someone he wasn't.

Thank you, Shauna, for being so honorable when you review books. A certain reviewer has read books word for word and recently called the author a liar going on to declare she would not read another word of the book. The author took it for what it was, slander, and gave a full-throated statement of offense that fell short of being as harsh as the reviewer's attack because she did not point out that the reviewer was an intellectual property thief and a slanderer. Now the reviewer has taken most, not all, evidence of her worst affronts and left selected parts of the response from the author. Her current version of her attack is that she was ONLY asking questions about that event and the author is being so mean to her. It reeks of something Meghan Markle would do. Attack someone and then pretend she is the victim. By the way, several subscribers saw the event in question when it happened. One was actually there. They all, including me, read the body language the same way the author wrote it. Thanks for the fun visits and you are well thought of here.

I am part of a royal family reddit group. I brought this up and it made the Brits angry. They said the illegitimate claim was made up by "Fast Eddie and Wallis" This is where their nick name "Cookie" came from. Lady C insinuated that she was a surrogate child. The Reddit group said this was also completely wrong and that Lady C was a Historical Romance Fiction author. I learned that was not a subject to bring up.
