Loved Scarborough but what about Cayton Village CAMC site?

Жыл бұрынIn this video we are on the move from Robin Hoods Bay to Scarborough where we are staying at the CAMC site at Cayton Village.
We did 3 nights on a premier pitch here, with some regret.
It was lovely to visit Scarborough again after such a long break but we missed the peace and tranquility of the previous sites on this tour.
That said, despite the noise, the club have invested heavily in this family site and once it's matured and all of the building work next door has finished it will be fabulous.

WHAT??? £55 a night… that’s too expensive.. yeah it looked ok but you wanted to stay a few nights not have part ownership!! There has to be a ceiling price on some of these sites and that one exceeded it in my opinion! Keep up the good work on the videos! Stephen and I love watching them!

Hi Janet, I know, that was a ludicrous price for that pitch. Our curiosity got the better of us but never again. We’ve found the private sites and CL’s much more up our street and at a reasonable price. Thanks for your lovely feedback. Cheers, Dave and Helen 👍

8am is the middle of the day!! 😂 its a lovely site nice investment hence the hefty price tag, might be cheaper to book one of the local sites ‘haven’ with entertainment included. But i love that area a lot of childhood memories for me in Scarborough and Filey. Thanks for the tour.

We have passed Cayton bay sites a few times and wondered what they are like but we were still camping then. Our first caravan outing was to Lythe near Sandsend Whitby . Lovely quiet site

Seems I dodged a bullet here, looked at this site but didn't book for our summer trip. Had a similar experience at Perth C&CC last year, one of our favourites but they didn't inform you a new dual carriageway is being built immediately adjacent. No one wants to holiday next to a building site! Will be using a mixture of private and club sites this summer, if they keep putting the price up then it's time to consider is it really worth being a member anymore.

I wondered where my CMC fees were going. Holiday parks aren't our thing so its a little concerning to see lodge's, yaks and camping pods all over the site. We've been members of the club for 18 years now, It's definitely lost its way and sadly seems not to be a club anymore with some pitch fees being extortionate 😟 ... The building works look and sound dire, the club should be discounting any pitches along that area and dont start me on the dog bags ... Always great, interesting & informative reviews from yourselves (Thanks) ... I'm with Helen, you've gotta luv a hot sugary donut 😋😂👍

Hi Gary, an all to familiar point of view and although we have only been members for 7 years, we too have noticed a change. The site was busy over the bank holiday weekend but was almost completely empty immediately after. We wouldn’t have booked had we realised the building works we’re taking place. The site itself is immaculate but we are certainly enjoying private sites and CL’s much more these days. Helen has the sweeter tooth out of us two. I’d rather have a Cornish pasty 😂. We was there 14 months ago, they had started building then but where at the far end of the field then. So I think they're probably going to be building on there for another 2 years. Especially as there's this cost of living crisis on at the moment.

We are local to the area and its always good to view a visitors perspective, we haven't been to the Cayton site but it's received a lot of investment and is typical for a club site. Nice to see you found Paradise, we got married there 30 years ago at St Mary's church and love the area. Great video and thanks for sharing :)

Must admit for a picnic bench and brick BBQ it's over overpriced, we stopped a couple of years ago with grandaughters on the upper part on a serviced pitch just across from where you filmed the building site, they had just started then, love Scarborough the Harbor bar is a must for Ice cream sundae /banana split, great video as usual 👍

Hi Andrew & Karen, thoroughly enjoyed our little Yorkshire tour. We watched your video from Scarborough and like you we loved it too. Had some great breakfasts, donuts and lots of other healthy seaside food whilst were there. Nice site at Cayton but yes, over priced pitch! We are using more private sites these days but got a full cam Derbyshire tour coming up this summer. Cheers, Dave & Helen

Hi Dave and Helen, Well Cayton Village Campsite is very nice and well set out, loved the walk around the site then you showed us the building site next door, so put us off a little but maybe by next year it will be a lot better and not so noisy. What a shame. Nice that there are bus stops right out side the site. Loved the walk around Scarborough, the sea looked amazing, tell Helen I love donuts too and fudge ha ha , Thank you for sharing x Julie and Tony x

Loved watching the waves, so relaxing. Like you we much prefer the adult only sites or at least ones that aren’t so much like a holiday camp. Every time I watch one of your videos my hubby says oh you’re watching Colin again are you. He says you sound just like Colin Young the antiques expert on Bargain Hunt! Not sure how much he knows about caravans 😂

Great Vlog Dave as always, but those prices are out of our range. Like you say no harm in seeing what you get for your money and like you those premium pitches are wasted on us. I would like to know what your views are on the Yurts and Lodges now being incorporated into Club Sites, we are using mainly independent sites. However we are still members of CAMC only because some of the CL sites we use only allow CAMC members it has something to do with their insurance policies.

Hi, thanks for watching. Yes I think we are on the same page. We have found private sites and CL’s have a uniqueness of their own and the prices are much more reasonable. As for Yurts & Lodges I have mixed views. Younger families may not be able to buy a caravan or camping gear but want to holiday with parents/grandparents who perhaps do have a caravan/Motorhome. Hi Dave & Helen, Thanks very much for the tour and pointing out the building site. We were not aware having not read the small print and intend to change the premium pitch we have booked to a fully serviced. If the three premium pitches in the other area are taken, we would be stuck with the premium pitches backing up to the building site. On another note Scarborough is one of our favourite seaside resorts 👍with lots going on. Did you have fish & chips and ice cream 😀 All the best, Rob & Gail

Hi guys we were at the camc site at Abbey wood great for travelling into London, they also had lots of tents and the grey chalets, busy friendly site only a 7 minute walk to the new Elizabeth line. If you haven't been there you should give it a look x

Another great video guys, I've got to agree the price of the superior pitch does seem expensive, I'd def be going for a normal serviced pitch. Can I ask which chairs you've got under the canopy? they look great. Many thanks.

Hi Rob, you live & learn 😂 Normal service from now on. The chairs are made by ‘Outback’. We’ve had them 7 years now, really comfy and we picked them up from Norwich Camping. ATB, Dave & Helen 👍

Hi Dave and Helen, Sorry to see that your stay at Cayton wasn't the best but you seemed to make the best of it, we think that the smaller sites are now more to our taste even though we love Cayton. The price of the superior pitches is just too expensive for what you get a standard serviced pitch is fine. The building work will put alot of people off booking we think. We don't have a dog but fully agreed with your comments regarding disposal. Hopefully your next stop will be better. Look forward to your next vlog. Paul and Jo 😊

Hi Paul & Jo, the site is immaculate and once all of the building work is over it will have a totally different feel. Dave's brother used to manage Cayton Bay Holiday park, just up the road, so we have been to Cayton before and loved it (The Farrier pub is something else). Agreed, we knew the price we were paying, wanted to try a premium pitch just to see what if any difference it made for us but as we mentioned, we would have been just as well with a FS pitch and would have paid a lot less for it. Thanks for watching. ATB, Dave & Helen.
