James Ingram is definitely in my top ten list of Favorite Male Singers I still can't understand why he never got as much succes with his albums as he did with his duets/movie songs. Listen to a James Ingram Albumm and you're guaranteed to get some extraordinary ballads imo the ballads on the two albums (It's You 1989 & Always You 1993) where he collborated with Thom Bell and the songs produced by Keith Thomas are Superb

Omg I don't understand why there are so few views for this. This is some of the best R&B ever. The definition of beauty. Quincy's writing and James' voice. It just doesn't get any better.

💫 Ahhhhh… Quincy… The Maestro… Everything Quincy touches is *GOLD*. The late, great James Ingram’s voice STILL gives me chills. He was such a balladeer. Gorgeous, smooth, silky vocals. Check out his duets with Patti Austin, Dolly Parton, Michael McDonald. God rest his soul 🕊🌹💫

The first time I heard this wonderful song + singer + arrangement was in Barbados around 1983. Till this date it touches our hearts (my wife and I). We pass away, but our love is immortal. Thanks for bringing it back. Good times and sweet memories.

Q was the producer on both of Michael Jackson's monster albums, "Off The Wall" and of course, "Thriller". There was also an excellent R & B group in the 70's and 80's, "The Brothers Johnson", who Q produced alot of stuff for. That is only what I know off of the top of my head. He also headed up Frank Sinatra's Orchestra for awhile, also.

Definitely a 2 step joint that you can do by yourself, or with your partner. Good point about being timeless, as the best music always is, which is probably what people don’t understand about jazz. It’s like Quincy, early 1950’s start as trumpeter with jazz legend Lionel Hampton, to big band arranger for Hamp, then Count Basie, Sinatra, his own work, movies & television (theme to Sanford and Son, & Ironsides). Then other production levels wit MJ, George Benson, We Are the World, etc. Quincy loved James for not only his skills & style, but also his musicianship & professionalism. Ray Charles was a big influence on James & that’s why their parts at the end of We Are the World had hidden significance, just like Michael & Diana Ross in that song as well. Would recommend duets James did with Patti Austin, (Quincy’s goddaughter), ‘How do You Keep the Music Playing’, & ‘Bany Come toe Me’; also wit Michael McDonald, ‘Ya’h Mo Be There’, & the Quincy collab with Al B. Shure, El DeBarge & Barry White, ‘Secret Garden’. 👍🏾

This song is still great 🖤 So kind of off the subject but not really lol Quincy Jones had a spoken word interlude on The Weeknd’s latest album right before the track Out of Time. You guys should check out A Tale By Quincy/Out of Time. Quincy’s story about his life is moving and The Weeknd uses it as an analogy to his life which he sings about in Out of Time. They go together wonderfully 🖤
