wow!!! that first photo is of Mary travelian school ! the infants was a seperate school to the left of that block - i went to both 1967-72 ish - i remember our sports day on that grassed area ❤❤MEMORIES !!

Loved these, I grew up in Dobson Close, Cruddas Park in the 1970s, happy days when someone set off the fire hydrant on Cambridge St on a hot summers day to cool down in the water spout , as kids we would swarm around it. Does anyone remember this!!!!

Hi David, what a brilliant video 👏 a trip down memory lane, very nostalgic and quite sad 😔 I'm from a big family and we've been brought up living all over Newcastle and the west end, so was pleased to come across it. We spent a bit time also at Cambridge St school, when we lived in Budle st. We had friends that lived at the bottom of Beach grove rd opposite the Cinema. I would love to see a photo of the flats that used to be at the bottom of hodgkin park, we lived thete for a while, but I was realy young then and can't remember what they were called, but I know that Walter Lucas was the caretaker at the time, and they weren't too far from Noble St flats. Was very interesting watching your video and reading all the different people's comments. Thank you.

3 Sisters flats at Howden ! Used in the Likely Lads film. My mate had a flat there, they weren't actually that bad, just a pity a minority of people in the area wrecked the place.

St Margaret's Road where one of the photos was taken seems to be no longer there. Probably demolished in the name of progress. Used to be so many engineering workshops along the bank of the Tyne there, left the place 50 years ago so have lost touch sadly.

I used to be terrified of the fire engine's bells as they drove down the West Road 😂 Does anyone know which school is in the first couple of pictures?
