Is the Lovevery Play Kit "The Looker" for 0-8 weeks worth it? I'm sharing all of my thoughts as a first time mom after having this playkit for a year and a half!

UPDATE: Lovevery changed this play kit again so in the description you can see my Amazon Dupes for all the current and discontinued items (minus the blanket and mug, because I mean, we all have those haha) - and see my full thoughts in the blog post regarding the changes and why I chose those Lovevery dupes!!

I totally agree with you about the Spiral Mobile. Definitely an upgrade and the best part of our box. My son loves it.

I've loved your review videos; thank you for your great work. Our kids have enjoyed the mittens & rattles, including on their feet. Each child has been different. Kira didn't use the mittens, but Ian and Forest did. Forest also got tons of mileage from our chew toy rattle, much moreso than Ian and Kira. He teethed a lot faster than they did (Kira and Ian are fraternal twins, Forest a singleton).

Do you think there’s a lot of overlap with the 0-12 week playkit and the play gym? I plan on getting the play gym and am highly considering the other kits, but there seems like a lot of overlap with this particular playkit and am trying to make those maternity leave dollars stretch! Did they provide a lot of the same information and stimulation between the two or do you think they were worth getting both?

Ahh good question! So there is some overlap between this and the ply gym…Two scenarios I'd consider in making my decision: 1. Am I going to get the next play kit? Or when do I plan on starting the play kits if I get the play gym? The next play kit has some overlap with the play gym too (quite a bit actually) but it has some items that I think are AMAZING which leads me too…. 2. How long do I think we’ll use the play mat and is there something else that can accomplish this or somewhere else I’d rather have the money go in the future? So personally, I’m happy we had both - but there his a lot of overlap between the first 2 play kits and the play gym. I like the “on the go” items you get in the first play kit (the standing card holder, the travel card holder) and I like the items in the second play kit (but you’ll see I never even use the mirror card because we already had it in the play gym). Now if I was *really* stretching my money and being conservative with purchases, I’d get all the year 1 play kits and instead of an expensive play gym I’d get a piker triangle (which we have). You can introduce a piker triangle around a year (some earlier, you’ll know you’re kid) so it’s not something you necessarily use right away - but when you pop the triangle up you can throw a blanket on it and use it as a tent (like the play gym eventually grows into). Keep in mind the piker triangle does have a kind of big footprint - but so does the play gym IMO. We used our play gym and I’m happy we have it because she’s our first so I know we’ll continue getting quite a bit of use out of it, but if I was being conservative with my money and on my last kid, I’d probably skip it. It’s with them for 1 year really (2 max with the tent feature) whereas the piker triangle is with them from like 6 mo-6 years.

Ooooo! That is a really great point that I hadn’t even thought about. I was thinking the pikler triangle for the first birthday as I couldn’t think of a use for it before baby is mobile but I didn’t even consider using it as a play gym! This is the first of (hopefully) multiple babies though so I could see great uses for both. So much to think about! This idea really has me reconsidering, thank you! You’re the first person I’ve seen to compare both so that’s super helpful.

@@raining77 Ahh yes - keep in mind the pikler triangle only becomes the "play gym" TENT feature - you could use the stand up card from this play kit inside of it though to create a similar tummy time effect. - it's not like an actual replacement of the play gym if you are looking for something to lounge with baby on the ground with/provide the sensory experiences. I'll be doing a full review of their play gym in about a month I think!
