I've been following you Andy since 2019. Back then could have paid $$$ for many beautiful properties. Life, well sometimes makes us love family more than ones self. I wish we could... we're retired... all our money is in the home we own.... the timing would be an issue... but we enjoy dreaming... (I think my wife is more receptive to this type of home than a camp which I like..) Realistically I'm 70... but an adventurer at heart.

My electric bill down the road in Prentiss is 50 bucks well water included. My NC winter home just my city and drinking water is the same as all my utilities in Maine. This house is a deal.

ANdy---is it a turnkey property after all their stuff is out...?I have owned home is Connecticut for 30 years. Is it common to request water test of r uranium radium gas check for radon mold checkslead and asbestos screensing and a complete title search pre purchase in rural Maine ?Richard

90' on the road and trees on east, north sides @kayloup7656! See above comment response. You could add a heat pump and so so low cost power here. Put a pellet stove, wood stove in the fireplace. Or gas log option too. Heats easy!

I would rather own this house than rent...in Hogden Maine. But most people can't live in Hodgen because they can't work anywhere near there. So it's really not a rent vs. own issue unless you already or want to live in Hodgen. I'm going to buy a place up in the Houlton area some day but not until I have all the money that I will be needing. Love the place though.

When I left Maine in the 1990's it was very hard to make a living. I know that it's not now, I have family in Old Town. I guess what I meant was it would be hard for 'others' to just up and move to Houlton, but that does not appear to be the case.

On Westford Hill RD you can get speed of thought Internet... need, want 500 meg, there is fiber to tap that kind of blazing connectivity. So so many folks are retiring in Maine and have an income following them. @@AndrewMooersmainerealestate Thanks. Yeah, I am 50 and will probably stay full-time in Florida until I am 53 or so, then come to Maine 4-5 months of the year. I personally am all set financially, though I will be working until I am hopefully 80. I now work as a contractor/handyman but have done a lot of other things, like sportswriting, along the way. With sportswriting it was important to have UPLOAD speed, not download, which is what is important to most people. It sounds like Pioneer Broadband probably has what it takes for good upload speeds. I can tell you that although I am a few years away from buying, I love all of your videos. It is priming me for when I get to the point of initiating the purchasing process. Right now, I would buy the $99,500 property that you have offered. If I were to be in the market now, that one would have been gone on day one. Something you may want to consider. I was among a generation of people who left Maine in the 1990's and then when, in Old Town, the paper mill closed, more people had to leave to find employment. Well, some of us will be coming back once we have our finances and life in the right place. I think that bodes well for the real estate market in Maine; a potential influx of expats who are bringing money from elsewhere. If you plot the time when it became hard to find a living in Maine, thus people left, it would leave the people at age 45-60 right now, give or take.

I lived in Maine all my life and never heard of hodgedon. If you’re buying a house in maine for under 90k it’s crap and sees summer 2 days a year, hard winter 5 months a year. Just looked it up and it’s half way up the eastern side of maine and borders Canada. No thanks.
