Also be aware that if you do hear a bump it can be a family member. See too many stories of this going horribly, check your targets.

This was a VERY helpful video. I was set on having a pistol mounted light, because when using a pistol as a "life saving tool" you're not guaranteed ideal ambient light conditions. Now I'm convinced that I don't need a light on my pistol. I always have a light on me in my EDC anyway, so I'm good there. Once again, thank you for the video.

Great video and demonstrations. Seems to me a weapon mounted light is the way to go

So one thing I noticed with both his pistol and carbine clearing is that once he transitions from the initial hallway to the living room, he neglects to cover the stairs (where the intruder could already be making his way up) and behind the stairs where the front door is (where the intruder may still be coming in after kicking it in). A lot of good tips here, but another is using a wall for cover. That wall might stop a BB, but not likely anything of any caliber. With the door frame, at least you get a good bit thicker material in front of you, but still isn't bulletproof. Lastly, this is absolutely nothing he did wrong, just his preference, but with the pistol light, I will always have a mounted pistol light. This allows me to keep both hands in full contact with the firearm. Again, nothing he did wrong at all, this is just my personal preference.

I think the points you listed are the reasons why Larry prefers online videos to TV now; the limited time on cable makes it hard to cover everything and points get sacrificed for a script.

Thumbs up for the gravity of the situation; visible rounds in the mag. I'd be willing to bet that it's even filmed in Mr. Vicker's house, also.

I have a pretty good setup in my house if a bump in the night occurs, 2 rooms upstairs, my daughter's right across from me, once I have my rifle I can just post up at the top of the stairs while my wife gets my daughter. Sadly our Ridgeback/Mastiff passed away this new years, he was a great guard dog, I know he would alert us. I know I certainly feel pretty safe about the 80lb dog + AR15 combo lol. I highly suggest people get a good watch dog even if they don't attack they'll no doubt go barking like crazy at someone breaking down your door. Giving you time to retrieve your weapon(s).

Great video. One of my favorite all time flashlights is the Surefire G2. Price is right and very rugged.

I've got a 4100 sq ft home with plenty of pistols and assault rifles in my gun safe in a room with but surveillance cameras in each corner of the house will help a lot. Most of the time, burglaries happen during the late morning into the early afternoon. As for home invasion, it can happen anytime but usually into evening. Just be aware of your surroundings and check your streets for suspicious vehicles parked. A lot of times, a lookout usually scopes out the neighborhood before breaking in. Always look into your rear view mirror to see if anybody is following you and be ready for anything.

Have the AR15. Have the AR10. Have the 1911 and Glock. All with Surefire lights. But when you want to really clear a room...nothing beats the Mossberg 500 (with a light).

Your really good at what you do. But when you were demonstrating the sweep of the livingroom you never cleared the stair case above you. If I was in your home the stairs would be my primary spot to leave a fellow bad guy to secure the space as I worked the second floor. That stairs is a very important high point to secure before the lower room.

Cant you put the hand held light in between your fingers of your off hand and press it against your knuckle of your shooting hand? It keeps the light centered and gives you a full grip.

Why did Vickers call the Rogers./Sure Fire method "push pull" ? Rogers helped you, Sure Fire, create one of the most successful line of lights for operators and he is snubbed. Good video, hope it helps someone who has yet to train in low light, but it would have taken a few seconds to check the stairs and give credit to Rogers

1) Unless your expecting a vistit from Narco-Traffikers or a gang of armed drug king pins, leave the rifle in the safe and use a low velocity pistol like a 45. Your neighbors will thank you and you will save your hearing.. Also with a pistol you can conceal it if needed 2) If youre already in bed with the lights off, why would you destroy your natural night vision with a super bright flashlight? Get night sights, they wont diminish your night vision and the bad guy cant see them, unlike a flashlight where everybody in the neighborhood will know where you are. 3) If you dont mind loosing all of your nice things in your garage and in your home, go ahead and barricade yourself, otherwise to protect your things and your family you need to challenge and own the situation. The 911 operator will just roll their eyes when you call to report a bump in the night. 4) At night and outside and or away from home, things are very different. Whether facing a gang of 6 or a single drunk, use the tactical light to intimidate and to blind them driving them away from you. Keep the tactical upper hand, keep them guessing whether you are armed or not and demand that they leave. Be respectful as you don't want them returning with a grudge against you. Calling the cops just as a FYI for them is generally a good idea.

I'm not expecting a visit from anyone but I might get one. 5.56 will penetrate less than .45 and compared to rifles handguns suck

The 911 operator will just roll their eyes when you call to report a bump in the night._ This is only half decent advice if you're in a jurisdiction where they're not going to have a problem with you shooting to protect property. In most, even "castle doctrine" jurisdictions, they absolutely will. It's considered better to preserve even a criminal's life if property is all that's on the line.

uilleann86 doesn't matter if you're delta, seal or what have you running drills, or just doing walk through without your firearm famiarizing yourself with the layout of your home and teaching and conditioning yourself with how to maneuver with your firearm of choice within and without your home immediately gives you an advantage over most home intrusions or burglaries which are mostly street level thugs with no training or combat experience. Spent zero time in the military but this methodology of clear and secure isn't exclusive to military training, anyone can do it and anyone can precondition themselves to perform and fire if they practice and rehearse, really helps if you get a buddy and use airsoft weapons for rehearsals
