I'm a 1-2 NLHE player. I don't want to bore you with the long story, but for situational reasons I needed a new game. I thought maybe 1-2 PLO. I watched your videos. I went to Aria and bought in for $200. (Normally I buy-in for $100 in 1-2 NLHE, I'm just a recreational player.) I followed your suggestions to the letter. I got some good cards. I crushed 'em. Now I realize that doesn't make me a PLO player, but I had fun. And let's just admit it. I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks.

I've been saying for years I need to learn PLO, because I noticed that all the bad hold 'em players have moved to PLO, and I don't think they have learned to play poker in the mean time. Just played a big O hand yesterday where a cautious player who limped Preflop started blasting on AK9 rainbow board and potted again on 7 turn… I had a set of kings KK1010x suited and overplayed it ran into Aces… need to learn to fold middle sets like you say in the video… painful $1200 lesson

PLO is like playing NLH in the early 00's, i recently switched from NLH because it was boring me (been playing since 2005) . Its a huge feel type game, less variance (imo) , and isnt solved

not trying to nitpick but by definition it is more variance. Common misconception is that variance means size of wins vs losses. It just means frequency. In omaha you are guaranteed to see more variance because the increased optionality brings equities closer together so its harder to dominate other hands. In holdem AA dominates KK and AK but in omaha a hand like KKXX usually has at least 30% equity against AAXX. so given that the max bet is Pot size, the pot odds are close enough that a call is not a huge mistake. that means hands can realize their equity more often which just leads to variance in the sense of frequency of wins and losses. If you play super tight you can reduce losses but you also reduce win streaks. you can reduce the effect of variance by decisions but you just cap your win rate along with reducing losses

I havent watched the whole series yet but if you havent already, I would love a video about how to memorize the different types of wraps and count your outs quickly! For instance one hand im always looking out for pre-flop is a rundown with 2 gaps on the bottom end (ex. 68TJ). When you flop your key cards (in this case 79) with a hand like this it is the absolute mther of all wraps and you have ~80% TO THE NUTS on an unpaired rainbow board

Well, folding a set, specially middle set, i wouldnt be so sure of it at low stakes or micro stakes online. Assuming that low stakes live and micro stakes online is pretty much at the same difficulty, people there are betting and pushing action with way worse hands than your middle set, for ex: top 2 pair or even better - bottom set. Yes, you will get some setups while you run into the top set, but overall, i am making money from going with my mid set all the way, ocasionaly folding, depending on a player I play against.

In a 9 handed game, the following is true (give or take 4%) If you have Kx suited and the board has three of your suit, no Ace, someone else was DEALT the nut flush draw in that suit about 27% of the time. So.... when you decide to draw to the 2nd nut flush, you are drawing dead (at least for the flush) a third of the time. I don't quite know how to adjust your EV calculation, but you implied odds are bad. This is even more so if players in your game will make large bets with the bare ace as a bluff. In limit Omaha, you can have sufficient pot odds to call, but in PLO, it is probably not so good. Even in limit O8, the presence of a low or low draw is a disaster for your second nut flush draw. About the only time you can play that draw aggressively is when you have other value, such as nut low, 2 pair, a wrap, etc. But frankly, even then the best part of this holding can simply be the fact that you hold some of your opponents outs. My best guess about your EV calculation is to simply assume you will only make the best hand 70% of the times where you make a flush and don't pair the board. So your equity for the flush alone is roughly 20%, with the second nut flush draw But with the nut flush draw, it is probably 30-35%, depending on the presence of sets and 2 pair hands. But as I said before the 2nd nut flush draw also has awful implied odds. You struggle to get paid and avoid paying off better hands, but with the nut flush draw (or even the dry A) it is YOU who will big difference between these 2 hands. In other words, second nut flushes should really only be a backup part of a hand that has fairly decent equity already.

I get how to play these hands when you hit what is intended, or if you miss.... But I would like to know your thoughts on this situation, which I find all too often. If you are playing a rundown like 9876 and you flop two or three pairs, how much equity does that have? Let's say an average table, medium stack, in or out of position, disregard flushes for this conversation, and let's say I did raise pre-flop (like you suggest) and I got 3-4 callers. If I hit my straight, I am not holding the nuts at that point. On the flop... Do I bet or check? Do I call a bet, fold or raise? I could hold out for the boat, but should I?

Any chance covering 5-6 card Omaha? From playing them I have noticed they play quite a bit different from 4 card. In 6 card, because you have 15 hand combinations. You'll most likely have a VPIP of 80+%, because you simply do not know the value of your hand until you see the flop.

I play a local game where there is just a $5-$15 button straddle. It's a pretty crazy game and one situation I find myself constantly in is facing a $15 straddle. Question: if you have say just a suited Ace or a pair of Tens do you raise the $15 straddle or just call?

What is your minimum for double pocket pair hands? Still need 99+ for one of them or do you lower that?

Don't play a hand with four spades. Don't play 2345. The way you broke down pre-flop starting hand selection was good, dividing hands into three categories: big pairs, suited aces, and rundowns. But there absolutely are exceptions. 99xx is generally garbage unless your side cards connect somehow. Suited aces with more than two of the same suit are also not hands you should be looking to VPIP. And finally, low rundowns are often not drawing to the nuts, so you should be cautious VPIPing those hands.

How can you honestly tell people with a straight face that playing 99xx because you can flop a set is a good strategy. If you plug in 99xx in a range explorer the average rank in a full ring game is 39% while KsJs7c7d is 36%. Both hands play poorly and the pair of nines doesn't really add any value. Playing this hoping to hit top set is a losing propistion. When you flop a set with 99 it only flops top set a third of the time. Your vlog was proof of this as you lost 400bb playing TT73 just hoping to flop a set and getting piles in with middle set and no redraw only to run in to top set and nut flush draw PLO is a 4 card game and your teaching people to essentially disregard side cards and play any 99 + hand. Giving out poor advice to new players who will implement these poor strategies is quite offensive. You are costing people thousands of dollars.
