Tara Prata it's awesome! Glad you're enjoying it. I did have a question about the tile on top of tile. Is it even with the floor outside the bathroom? Or is there a very slight step? Did they put a special transition piece? Thanks!
@Greyskingdom
@Greyskingdom 6 жыл бұрын
mickyunit, they built a new threashold and it traditions smoothly. I was concerned about this too and it's absolutely not an issue. You would never know it's tile on top of tile. Wish I could post a pic.... Everyone is asking, lol.

Tara Prata Thanks for responding, Tara! That's awesome that it was seamless! 😊 Yes, I wish they addressed it in the video, or showed a close up of how they did it. Maybe they could post a picture of it on Monica's social media... Somewhere!!

I'm SUPER glad you guys stopped spoiling the end results in the intro - I used to have to skip or look away to avoid the end result being spoiled and now I don't have to! I LOVE this show. Monica, come to New Zealand and help me. I have two cinderblock walls that are painted white and I have NO idea what to do with them!

I think this is such a great show, I love watching!! I know the demo smashing effect gets ratings and I was wondering if some of the demo could be done in a way that teaches people how to salvage things such as the vanity in this video for donating to stores like goodwill or habitat for humanity restore rather than destroying and filling landfills with things that could be reused and could certainly be an improvement to someone else's living situation. A show like this with such a large audience could have a huge impact on how diyers think about what they can do to reduce, reuse and recycle! I truly believe one person's trash is another person's treasure... unless the first person takes a sledge hammer to it, lol! Your ideas and style are fabulous and I really do love watching you do such amazing magic!! Thank you for sharing your creative process and inspiring and empowering diyers!!

Appreciate the thoughtful input, Rachel. We're thinking about how we can lean more that way going forward, so thanks for the extra push. Tomorrow, we're releasing a sink replacement how-to & we included a call-out to consider giving your old sink to Habitat for Humanity or another similar organization if it's in good shape. So good timing!! We'll keep looking for more opportunities. Thanks again.

I love this series but it always breaks my heart when they demo perfectly fine cabinets or vanitys... I understand they don't like it, but they could get it out in one piece and donate it, I think there are many people who would love to have such nice vanitys when they couldn't afford them new...
@samothlleb9747

its an mdf or hmmdf vanity with a vainer the only things possibly worth keeping out of it are the handles/ top depending on what it is made of, if was timber / hardwood would agree with you 100% so many decent timber vanity's get wasted when the right people could upcycle them and save on dumping fees

I feel the same way. What I have learned is that if you do not have the time and help to be so conscious, you are pretty much forced to move, move, move and get it done. I have called my local Goodwill and Habitat stores and they do not have available resources to come to your site to remove with care and take with them to the store.

I don't agree. In this Country ( USA ) any home owner should be able to afford and remodel and replace any out dated, old, damage and ugly kitchen and bathroom furniture or anything else around the house, the thing is that some owners are tight or they just want everything for free, it's not like they don't have money; come on guys this is United States if you own a home you too own money.

Man, it makes me SICK to always see cabinets being DESTROYED RATHER THAN REMOVED. The cabinets can always be used elsewhere, whether it's in a garage, a shed, a laundry room, a craft room, a sewing room, doated to a secondhand store, or Habitat for Humanity. IT IS JUST WASTEFUL.

Air plants actually need water so if they're dry you can always wet them! Just be sure to let them dry before watering again. They do need light so I'm not sure they will work on a bathroom without skylights or windows

I loved how you showed how to hook up a sink - any plans to show in a later episode how to install a toilet? People think it's a huge project, but it's not - the hardest part is getting the wax seal just right. I've even fixed my own tank flusher before - that little plunger and chain is easy to replace!

Sharkbites are temporary fittings and should not be used as a permanent solution. You can use a nominal compression angle stop and not have to solder. All it requires is two pairs of channel locks or crescent wrenches. Spend 2 more minutes (and less money on the valve) for a safer, more permanent solution.

You and Jason, and the home owners, do a stellar finish job on your projects without too much styling that will disappear once the owners move back into the space. You all do a consistently great job that concentrates on structures and design, not the added 'disappearing deco'. You add just enough. In the New Jersey bedroom fix, I do wonder where all their books went to and the very useful old chest of drawers. I'm sure there are some "Where do we go from here? Projects 5&6" conversations for when things have to come back into the room in a modern new way.
