Not sure about a Ferrari, but my Corvette will do 70 mph (112 kph) in second gear. I imagine most Ferraris can go faster in second as they'll almost certainly have a higher rev limit than a big American push rod V8(red line in mine is 6500 rpm). That being said it's also possible they're geared lower to compensate for the torque curve of a high RPM DOHC engine. Corvettes are nice and torquey at the low end as it's basically the same engine that's used in the trucks made out of aluminum with a different cam and slight differences in bore and stroke.

Dude you can get to 100kmph in FIRST gear with a Ferarri... My first car was a 1995 Ford Escort with a manual transmission. It had 88 horsepower new, which is less than half of what your average economic sedan has, and despite that, I was able to get it up to 100kmph at the tail end of second gear. Granted, the car wouldn't be very happy about it until 5th gear, but still XD
