This video is not the installation instructions, Go To LR Baggs instruction video to review procedure for installation. The system was installed into a Martin D-35. I am so happy with the outcome I thought you might want to hear it and see how it is placed in the guitar.

Well done. Can we talk about how gorgeous the INSIDE of that Martin is? What craftsmanship!

Sounds great. I saw there’s a new version coming with an added microphone in between these two transducers. I believe it’s called the HiFi Duet. I can’t wait for that one. Have a nice day! 🧡

Wait a couple of more months for the HiFi Duet which will include a new improved internal mic. It's the updated Anthem pickup we've been waiting for.

I didn’t even know there was a new model being released. I don’t think you can go wrong with this pickup, though. Personally, I always enjoy Fishman pickups, and I think they make the most natural piezo out there, but LR Baggs has some really great options. The LR Baggs VTC is also a stellar pickup.

@@MashaT22 Your absolutely right. The HiFi is a wonderful pickup and per cost, in some ways the better choice. The Duet is going to be really expensive. Yeah, I tripped over it while watching some of the KZfaq content at NAMM. I really love your station by the way. My wife and I are a Christian Music Duo up in Canada known as Infinitely More. When I'm not working, I spend an inordinate amount of time on KZfaq, not unlike all of us. Lol... Peace...

On my D35 I use a Fishman that has a bridge pick up and a microphone. It’s been a while I can’t remember the model . I like it for I could direct the microphone to the strings for more string sound 🎸

Fishman elipse? Or maybe the soundhole pickup rare earth. Fishman is another brand I have enjoyed over the years. 😀

I have three acoustic guitars of various price categories . An Ibanez, an Ovation and a Harley Benton. All three have two things in common. An under saddle piezo pickup and the sound they produce when amplified which has no resemblance to the acoustic character of the instrument itself.

Maybe you could use a good preamp like the lr baggs Venue. It can reduce the tinny sound ❤️ This hiFi system sounds so nice.

Or maybe you can use a preamp pedal from Fishman, which requires zero installation into the guitar. Do you know which brand/model piezo they have installed in your guitars? I have a Fishman Sonitone in my acoustic guitar. My friend has the same model installed in several of her guitars. They are very natural reproductions without any tinny 90’s tones, lol. It’s a very common model that comes standard in most guitars for a reason: it’s really good and very reasonably priced both used and new. It also comes with a sound hole preamp. (Don’t confuse it with the Sonicore model which is just the piezo and no under saddle preamp.) If you usually use your pickups (or want to), maybe it is worth swapping them out yourself or trying to find someone to help you. The good news: no drilling is likely required so long as you get something that fits into the preexisting holes! Just be aware that many LR Baggs models tends to need larger holes because they are the design with jack and the strap button in one, which isn’t my fave because then you have to start widening the leather hole on straps you may want to attach it - so you then can’t use those straps with standard strap buttons. Moreover, I find the cable sticks out a lot and gets to become an annoyance with those bulky all-in-ones if you don’t have a 90 degree angled cable. I prefer pickup models that have a separate strap button. It also can become a problem if you ever need to swap back to a standard size pickup and now have to fill the big hole back in with wood (which will never look the same). I have no idea why they started designing some pickup jacks so much bigger. I’m sure there’s a reason that I’m unaware of. It’s not to say that I wouldn’t ever use such a pickup that requires a monstrous hole, but there are really solid choices available where you can just swap and get amazing sound quality without needing to drill any further and potentially deal with the above issues. Sometimes small shops or even friends may have some extra pickups laying around that can be temporarily connected so you can test drive them with your amp before purchasing and installing them fully. If you’re not sure, maybe see if that’s an option if you’re worried about tinny sound.

By the way, are your guitars newer models, or have you had them for a long time? They might be current guitar models with really cheap, unbranded piezos. It’s rare to find new guitars above a $500 with a tinny piezo from a major brand. However, it does happen sometimes with brands that want to cut corners. I’m not shocked to hear that your Harley Benton might sound tinny. The Ibanez and Ovation depends on the age and price point of the guitars. My friend has a $699 (before discounts) Ibanez TOD10N with a Fishman Sonitone piezo pickup, but Ibanez used their own OEM Ibanez branded preamp to likely save money - but it’s still plenty articulate and clearly reproduces the acoustic tones. If this guitar had a cheaper OEM Ibanez piezo too, it probably would have sounded tinny. Point is, anything under $500 is usually the cutoff where you may find a modern guitar that has tinny pickups because they’re using cheap, unbranded options to cut costs and keep the guitar’s price lower. Swapping pickups is well worth the small investment if you want to play plugged in and you don’t enjoy the tinny tone. Fishman, K&K, LR Baggs, and other major pickup brands all offer options that won’t break the bank too much and will really improve the tone tenfold. Go look up each major brand and find reviews with sound samples online. You might even find examples with the same guitars you own. If you go find the Dashboard Confessional MTV Unplugged (or many of the other MTV Unplugged sessions) on KZfaq, you’ll hear classic examples of piezos from the 90’s and early ‘00 that were all known to have what was then high end pickups that were tinny at best. If you have guitars from before the last ten years from now, you probably have those classic tinny pickups. People my age (I’m 42) often still love them because it reminds us of our favorite band when they’d play acoustic songs with the piezo rather than using a mic. Personally, I like to listen to guitars that have them, but I definitely want my own guitar to sound natural so it’s not dated, lol. 😂😂😂

At this age I a couple oldies. But most of the guitars I play on this channel like the Harley Bentons are not my instruments. I borrowed to show on this channel. But I agree the piezos have improved over the years. The Fishman matrix is a good example. Thanks for the comment on this 😀

This really sounds great. I don’t think anyone needs more than what this offers. The newer Duet model is going to be excellent too but quite expensive. I have used their Anthem SL models in several of my acoustic guitars and they are my favorite.

If you try it Test out the jig before the actual placement. The tape that is on the sensor is super strong so you want to make sure it's in the right place. 😀 I am very pleased with this pickup.

I played it straight into a Bose S1 and I added a low level reverb that is resident in the Bose. I think the pickup plays very balanced! ❤️
