Hi Chris, Chris here, thanks for the interesting video, i ride a 2.4 puma, and read they are also in the London taxis, which would speak for reliability somewhat. Anyway, thanks to you I now have an idea how a common rail system should work, thanks mate.

Great information. My 2.2 TD4 2015 does not have a fuel cooler anymore....but it got a fuel filter heater now for really cold winter times in the north.....

Good video - thank you for breaking down the common rail fuel injection system. I would love to see a video on troubleshooting the Puma fuel injection system! Haven't had any trouble with mine yet - but I'm sure it will happen one of these days. Also would love to see a video on how to bleed the Puma fuel system.

Really great, thanks. At some point they dropped the fuel cooler. With my 2015 2.2 there are just pipes instead.

Well done on the video, can you use the Gap tool or an equivalent OBD reader to see if injectors are going bad,

Hey Chris, thanks for explaining - really helpful. I've got an issue, replaced the diesel filter on the 2.4 tdci and didn't fill it with diesel like I usually do... engine ran for a few min then shut down. I dont have a fuel bleeding tool/kit. Is there a easier way do to this? Appreciate any feedback.

Interesting explanation Chris, now I've got a question is it possible to fit the 2.2 Puma tank and pump to the 2.4, or is it a non starter? Just wondered in case anyone else thought about doing ths.

Just another thought Chris, the fuel filter in the wheel arch, can it be moved on the 2.4 to somewhere more sensible like the engine compartment?

anything is possible. There is a reason they put it there but i don't know why. The Transit and Ford Rangers which have the same engine have the filters much closer to, or in the engine bay

Hi Mate, great video. Thank you. i have a DTC that popped up, P228c-77 which then gets the defender to limp mode. would you know what causes this? i have changed all the injectors and have checked the DPF and for dirty fuel, however no luck as yet. Any advice will help. Thanks, appreciated.

Hi Chris. The connection between my fuel line and the hpp came loose and I’m having a lot of trouble setting up the engine again. Any advice?

I’m having a p0191 fuel rail pressure sensor range/performance on a 2016 defender and that’s the only code that came up on my scanner.....need your advice on what to look for and what’s the possible cause ... keep in mind that the vehicle is cranking but not starting

Fuel pressure? Is the fuel pump in the tank delivering enough fuel pressure to the HP pump?

I checked fuel from the filter housing, it reach there...also fuel lines to the HP is Ok(fuel coming out of the pipe which goes into the HP)but it seems not getting out to the rail unfortunately ... is it possible that I have an issue with the vcv or should I change the rail pressure sensor ?

Hi 👋 P0191 is the only code i got..no leaks in fuel lines.. no vacuum leaks..no electrical issues with the FRP sensor.. I’ve replaced the sensor but the vehicle is almost stalling down but it picks up again and running ok...during driving no issues whatsoever.. only when the vehicle is not moving the symptoms will appear..any suggestions?..can the fuel filter housing and the low pressure pipe cause the issue?

it's possible or a failing tank pump, if you have on on your model, could give you problems. Fuel quality can also be an issue as can a tank that is tanking in contaminants. The breather on the TDCI can suck in sand and debris.

Vehicle Repair Toolbox Videos thanks bro your videos are very helpful...I found the issue I suppose..p0336 was generated and I saw a broken wire that leads to the KSP sensor.. ironically both codes are coming up ... I need to investigate more 😬👌

Our Defender 2.4 Puma drives great in town, but ones you hit the motorway start to misfire then lose power within seconds. Landrover dealer in France having trouble finding the issue!! They started by changing EGR then the fuel filter and still won’t fix the issue. LRTV can you help?

any updates on this engine. I got a 2010 shitreon relay thats now a none starter. bringing up p2288 fault code. says pressure is to high

MPROP fault? That's the volume control valve (VCV) that regulates fuel to the high-pressure pump. If the connection is lost the volume goes to maximum. Perhaps I'm wrong on this but worth a look at that control valve on the high-pressure pump. Not saying it is but it would be the first consideration for me.

@@trailerfitter2 I've put new sensor and the other thing in the common rail and also put the new regulator/solnlid in the fuel pump. the heap still won't start. sounds like to trying but it won't. going to do leak test on injectors today. hopefully it'll work. not sure if it Will as engine wont run

ive got a 2.4 ddci starts fine runs for 30 or just over then cuts out starts again fine bit of gas will run soon as you let off it cuts out no codes driving me to insanity
