Unironically I think the ziggs actually fits rekkles perfectly so he can at least do damage without worrying about being too close.

Such a shame coaching never worked out for you, your drafting alone would shake up the meta everywhere you go. I still go back to look at the C9 games with you coaching, making the draft more interesting than the actual game.

Someone hire this man! I know, he won´t coach again, but to my understanding it was only "head" coach, right? Having him as analyst/strategist in your coaching team would be so insane.

I am so fascinated with the way LS uses magic colors to characterize champs. I remember he talked about it on a previous video. I'm going to watch the 3 hour Draft Kingdom tomorrow. This is so amazing to listen to. on a side note, its so weird hearing that champ called something other than naysus or susan.

Love this video (actually wanted to do a similar one). LS so nicely showcases a couple of layer of drafting that you can get into, where most teams just go 1-2 layers deep. And how Fnatic are actually incapable of even getting past the bare basics of drafting. Like I think most bronze players know Xayah hard counters Vi, yet it's the first pick we see after she is picked. Ofc you could maybe justify it (no J4 is strictly always better) by going another agro pick alongside it and basically showing that you are monored. Instead they lock in Zeri and now they are completely and utterly fucked. No way of saving the draft from that point. Just pure sadness and misery.

Thank you for posting these videos, it always tilts me watching teams shoot themselves in the foot with specific picks being entertained. While I do think that most teams are not drafting correctly, it always fills me with hope when I do see some teams either bringing in new picks (either new champions or flexing existing champions into a new role) because its showcasing a desire to innovate and 'break out' of the established meta. Regrettably though, sometimes these new picks are being selected in the wrong spots which leads to a misconception of the champions utility / usability.

My wettest dream is LS joining G2 as draft & strategy coach. Not sure how they get along, but LS and Caps cooking up picks would be so wild.

Oscar needs a positional coach and a group of staff to help him get comfortable, if you watch his GP, he has flashy mechanics and I think has great potential but is thrown into such an awful situation and dysfunctional team. Seeing this Ornn pick just made me feel so sorry for him.

Also when they blind pick Azir , they are still flexing the Gragas between Top and Jungle.

I like the MtG comparisons, the idea of assigning colours as a general way of showing what champions work together and which have multiple modes is quite useful. However I always thought it falls a bit flat when trying to use it for a draft, rather than just discussing champions in general - LS even adresses this a bit latter when he points out that League drafts are a perfect information game, so comparisions with games with hidden information will always be flawed. Personally, I think chess openings are a better analogy for draft because of that, some features of that comparision: First and foremost, reacting is a key part. Sure e5 is a great response to the most popular opening (e4), but if your opponent starts d4 or Nf3 you really can't play e5 anymore. And there are also some generally bad first moves, like f4, which suddenly become great if you know your opponent is locked into e5 as a response - or alternatively it means you can block your opponent from playing e5, even if it means you end up in a worse position overall. This is really valueable against teams with a very well defined style that aren't able to diverge from that style - think C9 with Summit. Another nice part is transpositions, which I think hold a lot of similarity with flexpicks. Say you are black and the game starts d4 e6 e4, which is a fairly common pattern. You now have the chance to play d5 and the position you arrive at is the same position you would get into if the game had started e4 e6 d4 d5. This might seem minor, but chess openings are roughly divided into 3 groups: d4, e4 and everything else. Most players below the master level (and even a decent amount at the master level) are much more practiced in one of these openings and would not want to get "moveordered" into a e4 opening, when they started d4. You could also see that as an analogy for knowing someone isn't comfortable playing a specific champion - by offering to leave something open that is supposed to be pick or ban you force them to either agree to pick it (transposing from d4 to e4) or effectively blocking it without having to ban it (opponent doesn't have the opportunity of e4 after d4 e6, which reduces the amount of things you need to prepare for). It also works quite well because the opening, like drafting, isn't actually a full game by itself. If you are Perkz and playing versus Damonte, you CAN just respond to d4 with e5 (Englund Gambit), because the position should be bad for you, you will just solokill him at level 2 with LeBlanc. If you are sufficiently better than your opponent (or just more comfortable with a weird situation) you can outplay from a bad position. Overall, openings are often displayed or at least conceptualized as "trees" and that fits really well with a properly prepared draft - you should know what your gameplan is if the enemies first pick Ashe, you should know what you do if they instead give Ashe over and took Gragas, etc. MtG drafting can never be considered in a tree like this, since you never know what is in the second pack you pick from - sure remaining open while collecting high power cards is important and drafting to not just have powerful cards, but also be able to fit into one of the supported archetypes is important, but that is much more nebulous and indirect because of the hidden information and high amounts of RNG (both from the packs and from the other drafters), while league drafting, like a chess opening, is fairly concrete. Wasn't a big part of the video, but it is at least somewhat related and a comparision I really like, so seems as good a place as any to share it.

Your knowledge about drafts is really unmatched. it would be so cool to see you as a draft coordinator in any team and see them flourish (get good). I know you did this in the past and there were complications with a certain team and you said you won't be doing it anymore in the future but man i would love to see you back in the game! I have a feeling a lot of teams fall into the meta $lav3 trap (don't know if one is allowed to write this word thats why it is obscured) and just play what was buffed by riot and disregarding best in slot champions for a situation. easy example is teams not drafting malphite into a full AD comp, same for rammus.

My idea about FNC’s draft is: they already decided to go LB or any pick champ in mid before draft. They picked Ashe for push and R and Vi to run down mid as well, then Rekkles on a scaling champ and top on anything that “doesn’t suck when behind”, hoping to balance everything over a fed mid. They tried to play for mid in game too, but as LS said: you can’t draft blindly ignoring what’s actually happening and expect it to work. I think they had an idea, but VIT rightfully just answered it and FNC went for it anyways with zero thought. SoloQ strat.

The only reason I can possibly think fnc drafted this vi for is as denial, xayah gragas are such fantastic R1 R2, gragas can just be flexed 4 roles on G2, Xayah picks means that picking Vi later in the draft for G2 can get huge value since fnc would be pinned off of an adc answer to vi but I think instead of "denying" a vi pick you'd be better just taking karma + (something else? viktor?) since karma gives good disengage, can be flexed 3 roles and pins G2 off of being able to play vi if they were looking to. All of this assumes that fnatic are terrified of vi for some reason though

Wouldn't Fnatic want a strong laner instead of Corki? That would be 3 weak lanes and VIT could run the map and snowball. I agree LeBlanc isn't good but the idea of having someone to pressure the map early while everyone else gets online doesn't seem that bad.

I really wish they'd show dragon soul in draft. It would blow the entire draft phase open. You'd get metas and drafts depending on map type and maybe we wouldn't see the same One meta for 6 months and we'd worst case scenario we'd get one meta Per Map for 6 months which could quadruple the picks we get to watch. We also wouldn't have these situations where a winning team or non scaling team just gets fucked by a bad dragon soul (looking at you lck cloud)

So, i dont have the insight on what is playable at the moment and what isnt into azir, but with the first 3 picks that fanatic drafted you might be able to go xerath on B4. It is the same idea as velkoz but fits better into the random champs you drafted earlier. On B5 you would draft some disengage/tank type, again, i have no clue what is meta, but even orrn should be okay. It is still heavily losing, but i think there is at least a win condition with what you are doing. With the draft fnatic had you just lose without having anything.

I think fnatic just had the one and only idea of going mid and killing azir over and over. also camille I think is very good pick for VIT since it gives you that splitpush abbility as well as teamfight as well as escaping in case they try to engage on her, and the rest of the team can just 4v5 even because of the huge disengage tools they have. and also they probably win 5v5s as well so... not much to do, like or you destroy midlane and have lb fed to the point of one shotting everyone or you can't win.

U know they want to pick Rakan so you hard counter him to peel for your carries and reading the mid bans 2 of the strongest picks rn ahri/azir get hard countered by poppy too. I wonder do they think its very weak because Razork is a good poppy player. Not to mention that if you wanted you could flex her top vs the Camille if Oscarinin could play her.

recommending the B2 ziggs B3 J4 is fine theoretically but are you considering the fact of whether Rekkles even plays ziggs to begin with? the same thing with the seraphine both ziggs and seraphine aren't really being played and while that doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't strong because we've seen multiple times now people picking up champions that were unchanged for months but they just weren't played (lee sin mid / trynd mid etc) while this way of theoretical drafting is very important it does feel like alot of the conversation of which personnel you're having / facing is completely ignored how would you have drafted for FNC considering the players that you had because clearly oscarinin isn't photon

FNC need a actual top, replace razork with Jankos and hope Humanoid can pick himself up and look for other supports

I think fnc should have picked dive champs in b4 b5, if you've commited to vi i think at this point just go all in and hope for the best haha, gp/akali would have been great I think. While I do think that disengage champs benefit from the enemy team having ults like vi's etc, if there is enough dive threat these abilities won't be as significant since there would be too much going on. it's hard to imagine xayah/azir being comfortable in a 5 v 5 if the fight is played properly which would give space for zeri to deal damage. Rakans not the best peeler so that pick would be punished like this.. But then again it wouldnt matter if oscar goes 0/7 with gp again
