LS XR4155 engine trouble again

LS XR4155 starts knocking then dies, drained fuel filter and primed the system as the service tech stated. It started but knocked badly again, I then pushed the fuel primer multiple times while it was running and the knocking seemed to quiet down till it stopped. Now it runs ok but at idle it intermittently has a slight idle drop with knock.........

Hope LS is watching because i was on the fence about buying an LS XR4145HC. I think there are more videos of XR issues than not issues. Hard Pass

I own a XR4155 and haven't had any issued in 250 HRS. Seems like we only hear about the lemons and people need to vent sometimes. I own a JD 4310, NH TT75, and an old Farmall Cub. I've had more problems with the JD than the 3 others combined, but I still love it

I just had an issue just like this and it turned out it was water in the fuel turned to what look like a jelly substance at the bottom of the tank

Sorry about your troubles with the LS. Ive seen good and bad reviews on these. I think tractors are like automobiles, you can get good or bad in any make. I went with J.D. never owned one till this past april. So far I'm very satisfied even though its an E series its been good so far. Just now got 38 engine hours on it and trouble free. I was a originally wanting a new Mahindra but was unable to get a good trade in value for my kubota. Hope you get it fixed.

I bought an LS G 3033 Shuttle Tier 3. 205 hours. Been clearing lots for a builder that flips houses. Zero problems. Very pleased with this 33 horsepower Tractor. Most lots have a lot of overgrowth with bushes, small trees, ivy and vines as big as your fist. I put a toothbar on the bucket and it tears that vegetation up. When the lot is clean I put on my pulverizer and make a nice finish.

From the sound of it, I'd say bad fuel. Or a bad fuel system. I would drain the existing system, flush a bit, refill and prime.

How about a house build update and final overview? Really enjoyed that series. The how are the basement walls with the brickface working out? Sorry to hear about your tractor issues. This tractor has a real bug or bugs

Get a lawyer..you have a rite of expectation of service from your considerable investment.....but your issues are unfortunately very common

Has it been through a regen cycle? I asked a dealer about this and he said - If he didn’t let the tractor go through the regen cycle when it came up and after so many times it will go into a limp mode. it will give the tractor enough fuel to run and get out of the field or what ever your doing to get it to the shop but we have to put it on the computer to reset it and go through a regen cycle to reset every thing

Take to fuel cut off valve out of the bottom of the tank. Cut the strainer off the valve and reinstall it. Bleed the lines and away you go. The strainer stopped up. You don't need it anyway. The fuel filter will catch anything going into the engine.

@@Lupusharv How many cyl. has your tractor got. The engine has more than one. If one injector went bad the engine would still run. It would miss on the the bad cyl. but still run. What I told you about the strainer in the tank is a big problem with a lot of these made over seas tractors. The knocking your tractor had is not enough fuel getting to the Cyl. I work on diesels every day. If you keep having trouble check this out. I bet they cut it off and are telling you they change an injector.

Injector, tech told me what one and I physically looked after getting the tractor back to see what had been done. When they changed it they also but a new fuel filter on, I know because they double gasket it and shortly after it was leaking.

I purchased a 4140 they say it has,same,engine,as,the 4155 . do they just run,more boost on the 55? I would like a little,more power. For brush hog on hills

311hitwall after draining the filter and priming the fuel filter it hasn't had any other issues, can't take it to the dealer right now I need it too bad for tilling season. when I do haul it to the dealer I will post the results

First keep in mind LS tractor Corp makes tractors for new Holland (Boomer series) and Case ( Farmall series) that said I would not recommend LS unless you have a proven and trusted dealership period, all my issues could have been resolved by a dealer that had competent technicians. The tractor has been running and working fine to date, also be aware that LS will not have a resale value or trade in value.... Trust me I have tried both. Save your self headache and spend more on a Kubota or Deere sure wish I did and I miss my Kubota b2620

I heard the tractor when it was dying and it definitely sounds like it's water in the fuel to me. Now the guys checking everything else why didn't you check the water by draining the fuel filter then see how much water is in it??

I did, no water in the filter. Theses tractors go into limp mode when the sensor in the bottom of the fuel filter detects water.

311hitwall what is in vid description and to bring it up to the dealer so they can look at it. the dealer also has a link to the video so they can see what the tractor does when it acts up

This seems electrical to me. It seems the main computer slave that services the main diagnostics for the engine and all electrical system needs to be replaced due to failure. The engine sounds sound, but the electrical seems not to connect correctly to the entire working system and is at fault here. This could be an isolated case... or not in the year make and model. Please keep us all updated on this matter mate! CheersSorry for your continued problem with this tractor.

Perhaps you should have done just a little research on these prior to purchase. There is another KZfaqr that had these problems and the dealer couldn’t figure it out. He bought a Kubota, good idea! Get a lawyer

You have dirty fuel issues or what is called plugged fuel filter it is not the tractor fault I was a kubota dealer for 20 years it happens on any tractor

paul kelly LS is NEW HOLLAND! The NEE HOLLAND work master tractors is the same as LS. Just different paint, hood, and seat.

So you got water in the fuel. That's your fault not an LS problem. I have an LS bought in 2017 it's got 260 hours on it. No problems. Then again I am careful with the fuel and I don't lug the engine. Wind them up and use them correctly. Had two kubota's before this tractor and never had trouble with them either. This isn't about brand it's about proper maintenance, proper fuel handling and use.

Thanks for the input Dave, turns out that this no problem LS dropped an injector. When taken back to the dealer twice to get it fixed they installed an injector and said the fuel filter was double gasket.....

Maybe there are two companies making tractors using the LS name because most of the LS videos I've watched are about problems with the LS tractors and their dealers. Or maybe saying that LS is clearly the best tractor on the market was just sarcasm?
