LS3 Finally Is In My BMW + LS Mount Installation

I started off by putting the new gasket on my new oil pan from CPP (Classic Performance Products). Then I installed the new oil pan on the engine. Next I put the cx racing engine mounts on the engine and on the front subframe. Lastly, I lowered the engine onto the engine mounts. Thanks for watching!

I keep getting comments about how I should cut the mounts! I said in the video that I am going to cut the mounts so please watch the video before you suggest things. Thanks! Update MAY 15, 2018: I do not recommend the cx racing mounts check out the video where I start the car to see why!

Awesome work on your swap.. bummer that the CX racing kit are not direct bolt on to the engine block & subframe... you guys need to do alteration on the mounts..

Very nice ... Good job .... I think u should make a mold from the frame to the engine while you have in .. Then on CNC machine cut a perfect fit on both sides.... More time and bit more money but a solid piece.... Keep up the good work...

I currently swaping an ls too with the same kit but i had to grind the hole little more to made it mount centerend and leveled did you had the same issue ( i fit it with an empty bare block )

Good progress. Have an LS2 swapped e36 myself. One word of advice on your oil pan install - you really want to put a small dab of silicone around the joints where the front timing cover meet the block. It is even suggested by GM. Otherwise it is very prone to oil leaks in that area and you don't want to come back to it later on :)

Awesome job. I have a question about the CX racing mounts that bolt to the subframe ? Once they are installed in the car and everything is finished and you have to change your Control arm or service it can you get to that bolt with everything together? Will it be a good idea to make a modification now so you won't have a hard time in the future ? Dave

yes I will have to do a modification to the mount so that I am able to access it in the future. I will show that in a later video once I take some measurements.

a thought, the mounts do not appear to have rubber bushings where it attaches to the sub frame. compare with the stock bmw mounts you removed. could that case some vibration issues? looking forward to the next instalments...... :)

Why use the rivets that keeps the gasket to the pan??

The aluminum plates you’re installing are not thick enough to handle the torsion from the engine. You want to have steel plates and not aluminum because of their strength and rigidity. When you bolt the engine together and start it I expect that the engine torsion will cause too much vibration and you will need to replace those aluminum plates with thicker steel ones and you probably should get a high-strength steel which is bulletproof. I’m in engineer and I do know a little about this area. I love both you guys for your great videos and hips. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your journey. Cheers
