I love when fig skin cracks. Growing up it was a good indicator for me of which figs were ripe at my grandparents house 😅☺️

Hollier is a fairly common last name in Louisiana. It is pronounced "Ole-YAY"

Hey Ross, thank you for giving your time and effort for figs. They stand out as maybe the most worthwhile fruit tree that we can grow in the U.S. I know that's subjective, but hey, when you're right, you're right.

Probably holding up better to the rain due to it getting more established in the ground. Definitely looks like an lsu winner worthy of adding to the collection.

Is green michurinska getting ripe yet Ross? I think dalmatie might do well in that low light area too.
@RossRaddi
@RossRaddi Жыл бұрын
I disagree about dalmatie. No Green Michurinska this year. The tree was too crowded with branches. I did not thin it enough.

I'm from Louisiana trying to find the different variety of figs. Where do you buy all of the LSU varieties from?

I'll have some trees of this one in a couple weeks I imagine. Cuttings are sold in December if you want to go that route.

That great Ross if only these figs werent so expensive. Not interested in spending $50 or greater for a fig tree.
@RossRaddi

Don't know what to tell you. Things are getting more expensive. Especially fruit trees. Not just figs. $50 is pretty reasonable for a fruit tree nowadays.

Start them from cuttings. Join figbid or wait for Off The Beaten Path's annual cutting sale in a couple of months. Don't chase the flavor of the month variety and have patience and you can find plenty of great deals on figs.

50$ for a fig tree (depending on pot size) is perfectly normal asking price. Newer or more sought after varieties are going to cost 2-5x that.
